Treyarch secretly change Black Ops Cold War movement in Feb. 4 update

It appears that Treyarch has changed the movement of Black Ops Cold War for the February 4, 2021 update.

Apparently, Treyarch has snuck in more secret changes into the most recent Black Ops Cold War update, that introduced Firebase Z and Express Remastered, and professional players are starting to take notice.

In a thread shortly after the update, pro player Decemate took to Twitter to discuss that the movement system in Black Ops Cold War was completely changed. In response, CDL player for the LA Thieves, SlasheR responded with “In a good or bad way?”

This was followed up with a response from another CDL player for Empire Dallas, iLLEY, who stated, “Every time you jump you get stuck in mud” referring to a potential nerf to bunny hopping. SlasheR then asked about the slide, which iLLeY responded with, “No troll the slide feels faster”.

In response, BBG pro and streamer Maux tested this out in-game and found similar results. The game was limiting his movement, making it more difficult to bunny hop. You can watch his clip of the test below.

We’re unsure why Treyarch would be interested in nerfing the jump in the game, and we’re even more confused about why they chose to speed up the slide.

What we know for sure is that Call of Duty isn’t a stranger to stealthy changes in patches, so this very well could have slipped through the cracks without a proper patch note.

This could also be a bug, so we’ll update this piece if Treyarch comments.
