Battlefield 6 is officially on the horizon, and thanks to a new leak, we now know when fans of the legendary FPS series will get their first opportunity to try out the new game.

When you think about first-person shooters, one of the first games that come to mind is Battlefield. An icon in gaming for almost two decades, fans have waited two years to get their hands on another installment in the series.

With rumors flying around about the upcoming trailer, including claims that the content in it has been changed entirely, it’s no surprise that players are desperate for any shred of information they can find. Now, well-known leaker Tom Henderson has dropped some major details about a possible Battlefield 2021 alpha — and it may be happening sooner than we think.

It’s been widely speculated that we’ll see the first video trailer for the game at EA Play on July 22, but Henderson believes EA and DICE will have another big announcement to go with it.

“The Battlefield alpha should be July,” he tweeted. “With the announcement being made at EA Play. Could be a ‘Oh, and the Battlefield alpha is available to play right now’ type of deal at the end of the event.”

That would mean we would get our hands on the game for the first time in just eight weeks, although there’s always a chance it could happen before then.

There’s been plenty of leaks in the last few weeks, with discussions about Juggernauts and robot dogs, along with some leaked images too.

Of course, as with any leak, this information is not officially confirmed so make sure to take it with a pinch of salt.

If it is true though, the countdown to Battlefield 2021 is officially on, with the full title set to release during the holiday season later in the year.
