Qudenos in Baldur's Gate 3

Qudenos is one of Baldur’s Gate 3 more mystical characters. As a dragon who serves Kith’rak Voss, there are only a few places you can find him. Here is where he is located, and whether or not you can kill him.

Kith’rak Voss, and by extension Qudenos, plays an important role in the way you decide to deal with the Netherbrain in Baldur’s Gate 3. As one of the few dragons in the game, though, he has been shrouded in mystery.

Yes, he is a dragon, and yes, you can actually talk to him. You just need to follow certain steps to do so. And, if you try hard enough, it is possible to kill him. Here is how you can do all of it.

Where is Qudenos in Baldur’s Gate 3?

Qudenos appears first in Act 1 of Baldur’s Gate 3, and if you follow the Githyanki Warrior quest, you can find him again in Act 3.

Kith'rak Voss in Baldur's Gate 3
You need to get Kith’rak Voss to offer his help to you if you want to meet Qudenos.

Qudenos’ first appearance is something to be remembered, but it is only in a cutscene. If you decide to help Kith’rak Voss and lead Lae’zel away from the ways of Vlaakith, you can meet him properly again in Act 3.

So, if you want to find Qudenos, it means you need to steal the Hammer from Raphael. Or, at least, you need to lie about it. Here is everything you need to make sure you can get to this point:

  1. Save Lae’zel from the Tieflings in Act 1 and head to the Creche in the Mountains.
  2. Prove to Lae’zel that Vlaakith is a traitor
  3. Meet with Kith’rak Voss in Sharess’ Caress
  4. When you meet with Raphael, either
    • Take his deal
    • Refuse his deal and tell Kith’rak Voss that you plan to steal the Hammer

All of these steps lead you to the overarching quest “The Githyanki Warrior.” Essentially, you just need to make sure that Kith’rak Voss shows up in your camp in Act 1. And, as we’ve mentioned, you can do this by making Lae’zel question her faith in Vlaakith.

Once you have the Githyanki Warrior quest and meet with Kith’rak Voss in the sewers, you will once again come face-to-face with Qudenos.

Can you kill Qudenos in Baldur’s Gate 3?

You can kill Qudenos in Baldur’s Gate 3, but it takes planning, and cannot be done by normally attacking him and Kith’rak Voss.

Explosive barrels in Baldur's Gate 3
You can kill Qudenos by surrounding him in explosive barrels and setting them alight.

Players will always find a way to do what they want, and killing Qudenos has been on the to-do list for many. The main method for killing him is to take a bunch of explosive barrels, surround Qudenos and Kith’rak Voss with them, and then make them all explode using fire.

The reason why players do this is because if you attack them normally, they will both just leave. So, unless you decide to take the barrel route, you cannot normally kill Qudenos.

It also helps that when you meet Kith’rak Voss in Act 3, he appears as a Dragonborn instead of in his full Dragon form.

Who is Qudenos in Baldur’s Gate 3?

Qudenos is a Red Dragon in Baldur’s Gate 3, and he is in the service of Kith’rak Voss.

You can first spot Qudenos in Act 1 when using the telescope at Emerald Grove. When you reach the pass, he can be seen flying overhead on his way to meet Kith’rak Voss. When the party sees him, you need to make a saving throw or become frightened.

Red Dragons serve the Githyanki under a pact with the archdevil Tiamat, and that is why Qudenos is tied to Kith’rak Voss.
