Baldur’s Gate 3 will let you try anything to save an Honour run, and fans have just realized that hoarding is the key when dealing with life-or-death situations.

Baldur’s Gate 3 players have always warned against hoarding every item that can be found in Faerun. While it’s true that sending back to camp any piece of rope, pliers, or rotten food is almost useless, certain materials could help users save their lives, especially if they are running out of options in an Honour run.

This is especially important once players realize that they can do alchemy in the middle of a fight, which allows players to craft any type of potion to heal or give crucial buffs to their party. In a Reddit thread called “My hoarding might have saved our Honour run,” a user described that hoarding seemingly random materials was what helped their friends beat Myrkul.

After almost losing their entire party and assuming that everything was lost, the OP described that they desperately opened the alchemy menu to see if there was something to save their run. “I realize I have 80+ alchemy ingredients, so my next thought is ‘Oh s**t can I make something to help win this’,” they said.

Thanks to using their hoarded items, they crafted several Potions of Speed and an Elixir of Angelic Reprieve, which were used to stun the Act 2 final boss and take him down two turns later.

“Mid-fight alchemy and transferable inventory have saved my run more than once. I actually thought being able to use alchemy in the middle of a fight would get patched out,” read a comment.

Many Baldur’s Gate 3 players were shocked to find out that they could do alchemy while in battle and praised the fact that Larian Studios’ RPG would let them even use items stashed in every companion’s inventory.

“Could you imagine just Myrkul like ‘can you hurry up?’ because you suddenly pulled out your alchemy kit mid-battle,” joked a player.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Honour run players are always on the watch for new moves to get out of trouble, so they welcome with open arms any strategy that involves making fights easier, such as how to quickly deal with Yurgir in Act 2 or knowing which dialogue to avoid starting an impromptu fight with the Steel Watch in Act 3.
