Some of Baldur’s Gate 3 fiercest bosses can’t be simply faced head-on, which is the case of the Apostle of Myrkul. For those trying to defeat one of the game’s toughest bosses, here’s what the Baldur’s Gate 3 community recommends.

Baldur’s Gate 3 boss fights require players to use a solid strategy that combines the right companions, gear, and a useful skill set. While these fights aren’t the focus of the adventure through Faerun, some can quickly end any Honour run if fans aren’t prepared.

This is the case of the fight against the Apostle of Myrkul, a multi-stage boss that players will have to defeat at the end of Act 2. Even if it’s not the final combat against the Netherbrain, users can’t easily destroy him thanks to its anti-healing aura, and all of his allies focused on destroying the party.

A fan asked for some help to face him in Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit, and luckily, experienced players described useful tips to survive this fight.

One player recommended to have at least one summon for each member of the party, which can be used to “tank” Myrkul and even absorb some damage from any legendary action. They’ve also recommended positioning long-ranged characters before starting the cutscene where Myrkul appears, and to send the main character to talk to Ketheric to trigger it.

“If your Tav has high initiative, enemies won’t be moving until you finish your turn which gives you the freedom to further position the rest of the party. I had Wyll sneak behind the necromites and thunderwave them,” described the user.

Another player suggested blinding Myrkul, which will get him only attacking melee around a circular perimeter. This would allow users to attack him from a ranged position, and stay relatively safe if they managed to avoid its “Finger of Death” skill.

Some Baldur’s Gate 3 fans strongly recommended positioning every party member using Invisibility, but warned that Myrkul resists magical piercing, and slashing damage. They’ve also described that players should first focus on downing the Mind Flayer, as well as freeing Dame Aylin as fast as possible.

“Adding on to the freeing dame Aylin part, if you make Scratch invisible and sneak him into position before the fight he can actually use the help action to free Aylin as soon as it all begins. I’d highly recommend doing something like this (doesn’t have to be scratch, pretty sure any summon will do) so that you don’t have to burn any turns on your actual characters,” said another player.

And those are some of the tips the Baldur’s Gate 3 community has for those who are trying to defeat the Apostle of Myrkul.
