Baldur’s Gate 3 is an RPG where players are held accountable for almost every action, so here’s what bizarre actions players discovered that their NPC allies won’t tolerate while traveling through Faerun.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is famously known for creating a living world that reacts to every role-playing decision the players choose from. Most beginners discover this during dialogue scenes, but even most experienced users admit that they are shocked when they suddenly find out that their actions are embarrassing faux pas that turn their in-game allies into hostile NPCs.

Players commented in a Reddit post which was the “dumbest way” they’ve turned a friendly NPC against them. While most people agree that the most common way of doing this is by accidentally pickpocketing an NPC, others have had their fair share of misadventures while traveling through Faerun.

Baldur's Gate 3 Withers
Withers is the only NPC that won’t turn hostile unless you ruin his party during the Epilogue.

“I was fighting the dwarf in red in public by the wine tasting, I disarmed him with a maneuver, then picked up his daggers so he wouldn’t get them back, and then all the present wine tasting NPCs became hostile to me FOR STEALING THE DAGGERS HE WAS USING TO KILL THEM,” said Redditor ‘MarjoryFallout76Xbox.’

Other players explained that they had plenty of problems when talking to Mayrina, especially because most of their dialogue happened inside Auntie Ethel’s hut, where fans usually assume that every item is up for grabs.

“I went around looting Ethel’s place while my friend talked to her. Mayrina saw me take a key and stopped the scene, then ran out of the hut yelling for the guards,” explained user ‘Professional-Hat-687.’

Besides accidentally pickpocketing NPCs in Baldur’s Gate 3, players agreed that the most common mistake was getting overconfident in knowing their allies’ reactions when committing not-so-civilized acts. One of the most upvoted stories involved what happens after the battle in the House of Hope, during Act 3.

“After the house of hope, I thought I’d keep Raphael’s body as a trophy at camp. When I dropped it in my camp, Raphael’s final act theme tune started. Duke Ravenguard became enraged and attacked me. Seeing more devilry at camp was just too much for him, I suppose,” commented user ‘Fabled_Warrior.’

And those are some of the dumbest ways Baldur’s Gate 3 accidentally turned their allies into enemies while facing the Mind Flyers’ invasion.
