Some players are wondering why Baldur’s Gate 3 is not on Game Pass. Now, Larian Studios have explained why the game is not present on the Xbox Service, and the community backed them up.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has been breaking the mold in what the RPG genre represents, and the community has applauded the developers’ resolution to carry on their vision throughout the development of the title. The leader of Larian Studios has explained why the game isn’t on Game Pass, and players have supported the decision.

In a recent interview with IGN, Swen Vincke, Baldur’s Gate 3 director, confirmed that the game will not be present on Game Pass, and has explained why this decision has been made by the studio.

Vincke expressed that Larian Studios’ objective is “making a game that has a beginning, middle, and an end.” He also pointed out Baldur’s Gate 3’s lack of microtransactions, which has been praised by many members of the community, in an era where they are often seen as a necessary part of every game’s economy.

Vincke, Baldur’s Gate 3 director, also enjoys tabletop RPGs.

“We made a big game, so I think there’s a fair price to be paid for that, and I think that that is okay. We don’t charge you any micro-transactions on top of it, so you get what you pay for. Upfront it’s a big meaty game. So I think that should be able to exist as it is. This is what allows us to continue making other games,” Vincke expressed.

His comments were shared by Reddit user ‘Kazuliski’ in this post, and the community quickly offered their support to Larian Studios, and shared their thoughts on the decision.

User ‘ElJeferox’ said: “Best $60 I’ve ever spent on a game, hands down. Would gladly continue giving them my money if this is the quality of the product I receive in return.” While other user’s enthusiasm for the game went even further: “Bruh, I bought a gaming laptop so I didn’t have to wait for the console version =p No regrets!”

Meanwhile, user Timmah73 expressed a different perspective on the correlation between price and value of the product: “In today’s gaming industry I feel like I ripped Larian off only paying $60 for 100s of hours of incredible gameplay.”

If the community keeps supporting studios like Larian, we might yet see many future games as great as Baldur’s Gate 3.
