Baldur’s Gate 3 is filled with crucial moments that define its plot, and players think that there’s one so chilling that it’s on a whole other level.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is filled with secrets and unexpected turns of events that can result in one of the 17,000 endings that Larian Studios planned for its RPG. While devs have said that players aren’t near discovering all of them, fans have decided that there’s a particular plot twist that can’t be beaten.

“The whole cutscene is well-made man, never seen something like that, I mean, it’s nothing special, things like this happen all the time in games, but they nailed it somehow in a completely different way,” a fan described in a Reddit post dedicated to the scene where it’s revealed what the Nightsong really is.

Players learn about the Nightsong in Act 1, when they encounter an adventurer called Aradin who is looking for it. Despite its quest being available during the early game, users can only know the truth behind it after the beating the Gauntlet of Shar at the end of Act 2.

There are a couple of ways that players can reach the Nightsong, but as soon as they do, they discover that it really is an aasimar woman called Dame Aylin, who has been held captive and was made to share her immortality with Ketheric Thorm.

But that’s not the only detail revealed after finding her; it’s a crucial moment for Shadowheart to realize the truth behind Dark Justicars and to decide if she wants to keep being a Sharran Cleric. “Oh, I completely sobbed. Might be the pregnancy hormones, might be the sheer power of the writing of the game. Might be a beautiful combination of the two,” described a fan.

Other cutscenes have given players the chills, such as Astarion’s ascension, or what happens when you give up Scratch to his angry kennel master. However, Baldur’s Gate 3 fans believe that the Nightsong plot twist triggers some of the most emotional decisions of the whole game.
