Convincing the Displacer Beast in Act 2 to turn against its master isn’t difficult, but players shared that there are some steps you need to follow before doing so in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Most Baldur’s Gate 3 players can’t get over the relationship that Yurgir, the huge Orthon demon that’s one of Act 2 toughest bosses, has with his Displacer Beast. Luckily for them, some fans have discovered how to help his “pet” to stand up for itself.

In a Reddit post that warns players about finding the awful truth of Yurgir and the Displacer Beast’s bond, users described that there’s a way to avenge the Displacer Beast and convince it to fight alongside the main characters.

“It’s easy to miss. A lot of people have already killed Yurgir and friends by that point, so there is no way to make the connection,” commented a user.

The first thing players must do is trick the Orthon demon and tell him that they’ll help get rid of Raphael’s contract. This will let them roam around where the Displacer beast is located, and players get to investigate a strange spider carcass located at X: -643, Y: -722.

After a successful Arcana check, users will notice that its meat has been dosed with succubus spittle, and if they lick it, they’ll realize that its awful taste also “seduces” them. If Gale’s with them, licking the spider repeatedly will prompt him to shout: “Stop licking the d*mned thing!”.

Investigating and licking the spider will unlock a crucial dialogue with the Displacer Beast, called Nessa. After casting “Speak with Animals,” players can find that Nessa became enamored with Yurgir after eating the spider meat. If players pass another Persuasion check, they’ll get to convince her to attack the demon if the player starts a fight with him.

“You can either have her immediately rampage or you can have her wait, in which case she joins any combat you initiate against Yurgir,” detailed a fan.

Having Nessa on your side during Yurgir’s fight will greatly help you finish off one of Act 2 toughest bosses. However, you can also get on his good side if you want to help him break his contract with Raphael, or you can simply take Karlach’s advice on how to deal with Orthon’s demons quickly.
