A Baldur’s Gate 3 player found a plot hole where Halsin is part of the party who catches you romancing the Emperor, but it doesn’t make much sense if he does.

In Baldur’s Gate 3, The Emperor, who turns out to be your Dream Visitor all along, is generally disliked because of his manipulation tactics throughout the game. One of these, players believe, is that he uses intimacy against you.

Players have the controversial option to romance the Emperor in Act 3. After they do, a cutscene plays with three party members watching them after the act in disgust through a portal

All the narrator has to say about the act is that “the tadpole seemed to share more than you would have liked with your companions.”

When player ‘immortalbread’ decided to sleep with the Emperor and this cutscene played, they discovered that Halsin was one of the people looking at their Tav. This doesn’t make much sense, however, because Halsin doesn’t have a tadpole like the rest of the party.

“Halsin doesn’t have a tadpole, so how did the tadpole allow Halsin to see? Plot hole,” they posted to Reddit.

If Halsin is not infected, then how can he see what the player has done with the Emperor? This was the main question that baffled fans, who also did not seem to have an answer to this question. They did, however, have their theories as to what really happened.

“Considering how much of a mindf**k The Emperor constantly is, your companions interrupting may well just be further illusions, and the promise of a mind wipe another demonstration of their power,” a Baldur’s Gate 3 player commented.

In the comments, it also seemed that the companions who show up in the cutscene are chosen at random. Players who decided to go through with the scene had a mix of companions showing up, from those who were already in their party to companions they never played with.

Some players surmised that the devs must have written the scene without taking it into account, further confirming that it is random who sees you lying naked with the Emperor. Whatever the case, a lot of fans found the reactions from the companions hilarious to see.
