Baldur’s Gate 3 player uses broken Durge build to murder entire map

There are a lot of different ways to play Baldur’s Gate 3, but the most evil actions can be achieved during a Dark Urge playthrough. Once again, a player managed what seemed to be impossible by following their “dark impulses.”

Baldur’s Gate 3 encourages players to decide how they will face every adventure they encounter in Faerun. The fate of the companions, NPCs, and other key characters in the narrative can be decided not only through dialogue options but also based on the main character’s actions in every scenario.

This has been put to the test endlessly, especially by those who are playing an evil run or even by users who choose to explore Baldur’s Gate 3 as The Dark Urge. This Origin character, also called “Durge” by fans, is a mysterious character that is suffering from amnesia, but it’s constantly tempted to destroy and murder everyone around them.

While some players choose to play a Durge that is trying to redeem themselves and stop their dark impulses, others lean deeply into the evil playthrough. In a Reddit post called “I accidentally murdered the entire map,” a Baldur’s Gate 3 user admitted having gone too far during Act 1.

Baldur's Gate 3 Dark Urge
The original Dark Urge is set to be a Dragonborn character in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Redditor ‘Horizon Theory’ described that they chose to play as an “OP Durge Paladin Warlock” that took every evil option offered. They didn’t only hack off Gale’s hand, they helped hunt down Karlach, raided Emerald Grove, killed every tiefling refugee, and then exterminated the entire Goblin Camp, Minthara included.

“I also killed both sovereigns in the Underdark after I helped one sovereign kill another. Oh, and of course, I used the runepowder barrel in Grymforge after Nere was out, and the explosion wiped the dwarves and the slaves. I’m truly shocked at how horrible you can be in this game,” the OP said.

Their actions astonished most Baldur’s Gate 3 players, but some offered some insights on how Durge players could make their runs even worse. “It’s more horrific if you keep some people alive than actually killing them. There are some fates worse than death, or at least, worse ways to die,” described user ‘Alienbehindeproxies.’

“One of the most evil feeling things I did in the game was after the Gur pulled up to me after Astarion ascended. I sided with Astarion, then killed all of them except for Ulma. I only got her with Hold person, used non-lethal attacks to knock her out, and left her there among all her dead people,” commented user ‘ThePrinceOfStories.’

Others warned the Durge players from killing every character on sight since everything that happens during Act 1 usually carries consequences for the rest of the game. “My first playthrough was as a Durge Githyanki fighter, and I wanted to push the limits to see just how evil you can really get. Let’s just say, especially after the more recent updates….. choices have consequences!” warned ‘ApartmentMuch1864.’

But even if Baldur’s Gate 3 players started sharing some of the most evil schemes they tried during their playthroughs, most agree that there were two untouchable characters. “Scratch and the Owlbear cub are safe in camp. Scratch wasn’t too thrilled about the goblin party, but he for over pretty quickly,” said user ‘Successful_cable_119.’

And that’s what the Baldur’s Gate 3 community had to say about the most villainous Dark Urge run. If you want to know more about Larian Studios’ RPG, you can check why people love “sassy” Jaheira during Act 3 and if players can really trust the Guardian during their adventure in Faerun.
