Halsin in Baldur's Gate 3

Baldur’s Gate 3’s Halsin is a favorite character, and a player has discovered an interesting mechanic when starting an Honour mode run.

Meeting Halsin in Baldur’s Gate 3 is an interesting experience, especially because he is in the form of a bear at first. The Archdruid of Emerald Grove needs your help to escape from the Goblins, and it is up to you to decide whether he lives or dies.

If you decide to help him, you gain a companion and someone who is pivotal to the rest of the story in Baldur’s Gate 3, especially in Act 2. He can be quite useful in a fight, and he is also the first Druid added to your party – assuming you haven’t chosen to play one yourself.

A Baldur’s Gate 3 player discovered an interesting Halsin mechanic, however, when you first meet him. “So I just started doing an Honour Mode and decided to have Astarion try to pickpocket the Goblin trader. Didn’t work out so he got sent to prison,” ‘edgeeeeeee’ posted to Reddit. “I figured I might as well kill all the Goblins there and free Halsin since the fight is pretty easy, even with three people. After the fight and as I was healing, I was a bit confused as to why Halsin started going up the ladder towards where Astarion was locked up.”

“Turns out him being able to break down cages isn’t limited to just a cutscene. He transformed back into a bear and freed Astarion without me even telling him to.”

Originally when you rescue Halsin, he knocks down the cage he is locked in in a cutscene. The OP, however, figured out that this happens whether or not a cutscene is involved, and Halsin acts like a party member would in real life.

Other Baldur’s Gate 3 fans loved that the OP shared this experience with them. “I’m constantly blown away by things like this,” a player commented.

The post inspired more players to share the new experiences and cutscenes they found when they started a new playthrough. Most of them didn’t even need to do things entirely differently, they just needed to approach certain situations in a slightly different way.

“I just started a new run and went into the crypt where you find Withers from the door close to the beach. I always go in through the front door. The group at the front of the crypt started yelling ‘there’s zombies coming out of the crypt!’ when I approached them lmao,” a player shared in the comments.
