The random encounters and quests in Baldur’s Gate 3 are definitely one of a kind, but very few can match the intensity of indirectly getting your heartbreaking desires revealed to you by an NPC.

Baldur’s Gate 3‘s quest and NPC design can really work wonders sometimes with their unpredictability. One moment you are talking to a vicious cow, and the next you are having your hidden desires revealed to you randomly by an NPC.

This is exactly what happens when you interact with Naoise Nallinto after saving her from the Mind Flayer in Sharess Caress in Act 3 of Baldur’s Gate 3.

During the conversation with Naoise, you get to know a fair few details about the entire situation, apart from her uncanny love for Mind Flayers. Regardless, she will soon ask you this: “Here you want for nothing. Here, you are anything. You have one word. Tell me, what will you be?”

There will be four options to choose from — Revered, Contended, Powerful, and Rich. However, if you have a chat with Naoise while controlling the other companions, you will notice that there’s an added fifth option, which indirectly hints at the character’s backstory, revealing their hidden desires.

For example, Shadowheart can choose to be “whole” whereas Wyll might want to finally be “free” from Mizora and Zariel’s clutches. On the other hand, Karlach simply wants to feel “alive.”

Reddit user ‘AHappyGoth’ shared their thoughts regarding this matter as they claimed that these “hit pretty deep” while others found these desires to be “heartbreaking” in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Players who are already in Act 3 might just miss this entire scenario if they do not open the locked door in the balcony of Sharess Caress, near the room where you had your chat with Raphael and Kith’rak Voss in Baldur’s Gate 3.
