Shadowheart doesn’t miss in Baldur’s Gate 3 when you use the right spells

Shadowheart in Baldur's Gate 3

It has been a long-running meme in Baldur’s Gate 3 that Shadowheart is unable to hit her targets, but it’s not because she doesn’t know what she’s doing. As someone with a massive range of spells, it’s possible that she appears weak because you’re using the wrong ones.

At the start of Baldur’s Gate 3, a lot of the enemies you come across are going to be lower level with subsequently lower stats. As a result, cantrips like Sacred Flame will be useful – especially because you have an extremely limited amount of spell slots.

However, as you level up, so do the enemies you face. That means that your spell choices should change as well. Spells like Spirit Guardians and Guiding Bolt will become your friends more than any other spells in Shadowheart’s arsenal.

Some players have also mentioned that it’s probably a good idea to respec her so you can ensure that she uses spells tailored to her stats.

“I always respec her into storm cleric. Then any lightning spell deals a lot,” a player explained on a Reddit thread titled “If you think Shadowheart can’t hit, you’re doing it wrong.”

Another way you could consider respeccing Shadowheart is choosing the Life Domain and turning her into a pure healer. Not only will she have access to incredibly powerful healing spells, but she will also have the ability to help your party with debuffs.

Either way, players agree that it’s essential to respec Shadowheart. “This is generally what I do. Other characters are generally fine right out of the box, but Shadowheart is very much not optimized,” a player explained.

Depending on what kind of character you choose to play and what you are missing in your party, Shadowheart is the ideal member to play around with. Not everything in Baldur’s Gate 3 is a powerhouse, and it’s important to make sure the party you play with complements each other.

Although some players may be disappointed that Shadowheart isn’t in her optimal state from the get-go, she serves as the perfect character for understanding how to set up your Class for success.

It’s also important to remember that not every character needs to be able to smite enemies into dust at every turn, and Shadowheart’s real place may be to enhance the abilities of your party instead.
