Ninja Rogue Baldur's Gate 3

Baldur’s Gate 3 has a plethora of D&D classes for you to roleplay as, and you can even multiclass to create some truly unique ones. One such build that makes the most of the game’s stealth features is the Ninja Rogue.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is possibly the best way to experience the world of D&D in a video game in recent times. The game has tons of classes and subclasses, races, and abilities all taken from the Forgotten Realms. With the multiclass and Respec features, you can experiment to your heart’s content, and even mix different classes together.

If you’re looking for one of the coolest stealth builds that Baldur’s Gate 3 can offer, the Ninja Rogue is what you need. Strike your targets from the shadows with all the versatility of the Rogue Assassin mixed with the Monk.

So, here’s everything you need to know to make the Ninja Rogue build in Baldur’s Gate 3.

How to build Ninja Rogue in Baldur’s Gate 3

To build your own Ninja Rogue in Baldur’s Gate 3, you need to take levels of Rogue and Monk by multiclassing. The best-recommended race to build your Rogue is Drow, and the stat distribution should always prioritize Wisdom and Constitution.

Start with a base Rogue in BG3 and take it to level 4, selecting the Assassin subclass in the process. Take an Ability score increase at level 4. Then take the remaining 8 levels as a Monk, selecting the Way of the Shadow subclass.

Here’s the full build with the corresponding levels and path choices:

The four core items for the Ninja Rogue build in Baldur’s Gate 3 are easily obtainable throughout your adventure and can be purchased from several vendors.

As the Monk doesn’t benefit from wearing body armor, we will go with a Cloth armor with base 10 AC, called The Graceful Cloth. This can be obtained from a vendor named Lady Esther. She will be located near the Rosymon Monastery, in the Mountain Pass.

You can also obtain the Gloves of Dexterity from here, which will increase your Dexterity to 18. With those two items equipped, you can choose to take more Feats instead of ability score increases, as they will stack and cap your DEX at 20.

Cloak of Cunning Brume
This cloak allows your Ninja Rogue to vanish like a true shinobi.

Now, for the Cape, you will be looking for Mattis, the Tiefling child vendor at Last Light Inn. He will sell you the Cloak of Cunning Brume, an item that makes you invisible and blinds foes when you activate the Disengage cunning action from Rogue.

From there, you can explore the Inn’s basement and kill some enemies you will find in a hidden passage behind the Wine Cellar, to find the Covert Cowl. This item is a helmet that reduces the number you need to roll for a critical attack by 1, and stacks with other Critical Hit Feats, making you even deadlier at close and long range.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Ninja Rogue build best combat strategy

To best way to play a Ninja Rogue in Baldur’s Gate 3 is always to scout ahead and try to ambush your enemies. By using Elixir of Bloodthirst, you will be able to mow down several enemies before rapidly retreating and leading them to your other characters, laying in ambush.

Escape by using Disengage if they surround you, to blind them and escape quickly. This will also buff your critical for the next rounds.
