This overlooked class breezes through Baldur’s Gate 3 Honour Mode runs

Honour Mode in Baldur’s Gate 3 has less leeway in the silly classes you can make due to the much higher stakes than the other difficulty choices. But that doesn’t necessarily need to take the fun away, as one player shared an interesting build for an Honour run.

Choosing a class in Baldur’s Gate 3 is already a daunting choice, but it can be even more overwhelming given the pressure of surviving difficult fights in Honour Mode runs. While there are a few great options, one of the most underrated ones is a Thief Rogue.

Essentially, this build will be excellent for getting out of dodge when a fight gets a bit sticky. Thief Rogues have Cunning Actions, which means that you can use Dash more often than most other classes.

Alongside that, Rogue can pull off powerful attacks with their Sneak Attack abilities and varied weapon proficiencies. But, as Reddit user ‘velatieren’ puts it, their most valuable asset is their ability to escape a fight that’s gone wrong, which is especially important in Honour Mode.

“If you give them 2x hand crossbow, it’s good dps, but what’s more important: If you’re about to get TPK, Thief can do over 3x Dash at any time to zoom into a different zip code in a single turn,” ‘velatieren’ explained on Reddit

If this isn’t your kind of playstyle, there are other options to consider. My personal favorite to use when tackling Honour Mode is an Oath of Vengeance Paladin.

Oath of Vengeance Paladin is one of the best classes for Honour Mode runs.

Paladin is the most popular class in Baldur’s Gate 3 for good reason. You have access to some powerful attacks and incredible buffs that can take over fights with little effort or concentration.

Oath of Vengeance specifically gives you Relentless Avenger, which can also play into the idea of a Thief Rogue-like escape method. Plus, Lay on Hands is one of the best healing spells in the game for those moments when you struggle to deal with enemy attacks.

Otherwise, if you do want to hang back a little away from the fray, you may want to consider an Evocation Wizard. This class packs a serious punch with multiple high-damage spells that also make the terrain difficult to navigate.

Evocation Wizards also have the Sculpt Spells Feat, which means that any AOE spells you cast won’t damage your party as much – making you less of a hazard to yourself and your friends.
