Where to get Balduran’s Giantslayer sword in BG3?

If you want to find the Balduran’s Giantslayer in Baldur’s Gate 3, you’ll need to get to Act 3 and complete the “Rescue the Grand Duke” quest. If you have kept Wyll as your companion, you’ll get “The Legend of Ansur,” a tome that will tell you all about Ansur the Bronze dragon.

After getting it, here’s what you need to do:

  1. Head to Wyrm’s Rock Fortress (X:4, Y:191), and go straight to the prison (X:53, Y: -745).
  2. Steal the prison’s key from the sleeping guard.
  3. Turn left from where you arrived and cast lighting-based spells on the two dragon torches (X:33, Y:-731) to reveal a secret passage into Wyrmway.
  4. Complete the challenges of the Chamber of Justice, the Chamber of Courage, the Chamber of Strategy, and the Chamber of Insight.
  5. Go to the Dragon Sanctum (X: 634, Y:-1036), and fight with Ansur the Dragon.

After beating Ansur, you’ll have to loot his body to claim the Balduran’s Giantslayer sword.

  • Damage: 2d6 Slashing / 6 Slashing
  • Weapon Type: Greatsword.
  • Effect:
    • Giantslayer: On a hit, double the damage from your Strength Modifier. This weapon grants you Advantage on Attack Rolls against Large, Huge, or Gargantuan creatures.
  • Weapon Enchantment: +3
  • Weapon traits: Two-Handed
  • Skills:
    • Pommel Strike: Make a non-lethal attack against an enemy and possibly Daze them.
    • Lacerate: Slash at your target’s vital points to make it Bleed. Undead and Constructs can’t Bleed.
    • Cleave: Swing your weapon in a large arc to attack up to 3 enemies at once.
    • Giant Form: Grow to a fearsome size. Your weapons deal an additional 1d6 damage and you gain 27 temporary hit points and Advantage on Strength Checks and Saving Throws.
    • Topple the Big Folk: Deal additional damage equal to your Proficiency Bonus. On a hit, Large, Huge, or Gargantuan creatures take an additional 2~12 Bludgeoning damage and must succeed in a Strength Saving Throw or fall Prone.
