Apex Legends’ Spellbound Collection Event is here, bringing buffs, nerfs, and bug fixes. Although not listed in the patch notes, it’s brought a major nerf to Horizon’s Gravity Lift Tactical Ability.

The latest Collection Event has arrived in Apex Legends Season 15, with Spellbound introducing Seer’s Heirloom, bringing back Control, and opening up Private Matches to everyone. The update also brought a handful of changes, buffing the Prowler and nerfing the G7 Scout.

However, it appears the update’s most significant change wasn’t mentioned in the patch notes. Whether an intended change or an accident, Horizon’s Gravity Lift has received a major nerf that stops players from remaining completely accurate while hovering.

Previously, Horizon players were able to float and strafe while in the Gravity Lift with almost no accuracy penalty, allowing them to land every bullet while hovering in the air.

Horizon nerfed in secret Apex Legends update

Horizon is one of the most popular characters in Apex Legends, being the most popular among Diamond, Master, and Predator players, and it’s largely because of her powerful Gravity Lift ability.

But, as spotted by pro player HisWattson, Horizon was given a major nerf in January 10’s Spellbound Collection Event update. Now, the Gravity Lift will apply the same ‘bloom’ effect as zip lines or Octane’s Jump Pad, making it impossible to stay accurate while in the air.

Players have been calling for this nerf for some time, and the majority of the replies were delighted to see the change come in. Pro player ‘hodsic’ called it “one of the best changes in a long time.”

While there are concerns the nerf was unintended and will be reverted soon, some speculate that it was a change lined up for the Season 16 update that arrived early. Respawn may amend the patch notes soon, clarifying whether the major nerf was intended or not.
