Apex Legends players have discovered the return of the infamous double pump technique that became notorious on Fortnite.

The Apex Legends x Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth event didn’t just bring a fun new LTM in which players can find the iconic Buster Sword and a heap of new cosmetics, but it also introduced a new patch with various balance changes.

While likely unintentional, the update also brought the double pump technique back to Apex Legends, which is a powerful method of switching back and forth between Shotguns to shoot them faster than usual.

This technique became popular during Fortnite‘s heyday and it eventually transferred to other shooters such as Apex.

This double pump technique allows players to take down enemies in an unfair fashion, and while the devs removed it in the past, the new Apex Legends update has brought it back, leaving players furious.

Over on X, user ‘PistilloMx’ posted a clip of the double pump technique in action, as they captioned the post, “Ok apex we need to fix this…WTF.”

The double pump exploit requires the player to have two Mastiff Shotguns in their loadout and is performed by switching between them every shot in order to speed up the rate of fire.

In the clip, the player can be seen utilizing this to take down a full squad. In the comments of the post, Apex Legends pro ShivFPS said, “Loool this is like the fortnite double pump,” while another user commented, “Just gave me fortnite double pump ptsd.”

In a completely separate X post highlighting the new double pump Mastiff meta, players were also referring to Fortnite, as ‘Voderyy’ shared a clip showing how you can “now double pump in Apex.”

“Fortnite flashbacks,” said one user, while another comment said that the exploit is bringing back that “OG Fortnite vibe.”

This Mastiff double pump exploit will likely be nerfed soon, but for those looking to get a taste of OG Fortnite, the double pump on Apex may provide some nostalgia.
