Apex Legends is launching a crossover event with Final Fantasy VII, and you can get the Buster Sword R5 melee cosmetic as part of it.

The Apex Legends x Final Fantasy VII crossover trailer has been released, revealing new cosmetics, Materia Hop-Ups, abilities, and a new mode for players to enjoy from January 9, 2024.

Among the cosmetics that players can earn in the event is the Buster Sword R5, which players can equip in place of their heirlooms or fists in Apex Legends, so here’s how to get it.

How to get Buster Sword R5 cosmetic in Apex Legends

The Apex Legends x Final Fantasy VII cosmetics including the Buster Sword R5 will drop in special event packs.

In total, there are 36 items players can earn during the event, with the Sword being among the most anticipated. Luckily, you will not get duplicates of event cosmetics in each pack, so make sure you play throughout the event to get as many packs as you can.

Apex Legends payers can earn packs by playing the event. Your likelihood of getting packs is determined by event challenges, how many games you play (and win), and your stats after each game.

While the Sword does not add any additional abilities for players in-game, it is a perfect dedication to Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII. The Sword itself is an iconic symbol for Cloud and the Final Fantasy series, making it a must-have for Final Fantasy fans who also play Apex Legends.

The Buster Sword R5 melee cosmetic will not be available in Mythic Stores after the event ends, so this will be your only chance to get it. Be sure to keep an eye out for any updates to the event as the launch time nears.
