Apex Legends players have been plagued by connection issues, mainly, the code:net error. So Respawn Entertainment has confirmed they will be sending out “free stuff” as a way of apology.

Connection issues, which are usually all placed under the code:net error, have been preventing Apex Legends fans from playing the game at all during Season 8. Players have found a temporary workaround by logging in with a separate account, but Respawn has confirmed they are aware of the issues and will be compensating players with “free stuff.”

If you’re unsure what code:net is, it isn’t a specific error, rather the code that encompasses a plethora of issues that disconnect you from the servers.

In a tweet responding to code:net error complaints, Apex Legends Game Director, Chad Grenier, assured fans they are working on giving players “free stuff” as a way of apology. This is similar to players receiving 25 free Battle Pass tiers after the code:clog issue when players were stuck on an infinite loading screen.

While free stuff is always nice, players really want to be able to play on their main accounts again. Grenier confirmed that getting fans their accounts back up is the first priority, with compensation being next on the list.

Interestingly, one Apex Legends player has already received compensation from Respawn Entertainment. After being plagued by login errors, this player was sent 150 Heirloom Shards and 15,000 Apex Coins (roughly $100 worth).

Speaking to Dexerto, the player confirmed that this was legitimate and they were indeed given these free items because of the code:net error.

With the huge number of players affected by connection issues, this player being compensated sparked many demands for the rest of those affected to receive the same gifts. However, as Grenier confirmed, “free stuff” for players is in the works, as soon as they can get players logging in again.

It’s unknown if the items will be the same as those that have already been given, but we’ll let you know as soon as we know more.
