While Pokemon fans were shocked by the new game being based on the Kalos region instead of Johto or Unova, a few Scarlet and Violet players found hints of Legends ZA featuring Kalos in Paldea itself!

For months, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players were sure that the new game set to be revealed on Pokemon Day 2024 would be based on either the Unova region or the Johto region, while some even expected announcements for both.

But, the franchise threw a curveball by announcing a brand-new Pokemon game set in the Kalos region, Legends ZA. While fans feel ‘robbed’ after all the teases, a few pointed out that the indications for Kalos were always there in the Paldea region itself!

A Reddit user named ‘platpx3’ showed the map of Paldea with the shaded area in the northeast part of the region and asked if everyone remembered the theories of it being a clue to the next game, with a clear indication of the neighboring Kalos region.

Explaining the post, a user wrote, “Paldea is based on Spain, which borders France, in the Pokemon world France is Kalos. People speculated we would have some sort of Kalos DLC over there because of the real-life border.”

Another stated why that shaded area was a prelude to Pokemon Legends ZA: “They have proper ‘out of bounds’ areas at the edges of Kitakami and in Legends Arceus. Why make this ‘out of bounds area’ this big friggin potato-looking chunk of land instead of just a normal map edge?”

Others agreed that “it’s very likely now an Easter egg for what was to come” and with several mysteries about Area Zero remaining unsolved, fans are certain Pokemon Legends ZA will have something to do with Scarlet and Violet.
