Receiving postcards from different parts of the world is very popular among Pokemon Go players, but a trainer couldn’t believe their eyes when they received one from a location they didn’t think Pokemon Go gameplay was even possible.

Opening Gifts in Pokemon Go lets players receive several useful in-game items, become Lucky Friends, and even catch rare and highly sought-after Pokemon such as Vivillon.

To get all Vivillon patterns, trainers have to save postcards from various parts of the world, with each region corresponding to each pattern.

While fans celebrate postcards from places like Antarctica, one trainer got a surprise when they received a postcard from the most unexpected location.

A user named ‘Mountain-Formal-3483’ on Reddit shared a couple of screengrabs with the first showing a Pokemon Go postcard received from a PokeStop called ‘BigRedKimJong’ located in North Korea, confirmed by the second screengrab.

The surprising location made the OP caption the post with: “Seriously, how??’ while adding: “When I found his account at Pokemon Go friend site, I thought it was joke but…”

Users confirmed Pokemon Go being active in North Korea, with comments such as: “I’ve heard Pyongyang has PokeStops, actually” and “Some stops & gyms do exist, although they are very few.”

“Currently North Korea is hosting a POGO global on March 12 with 76 confirmed players, so they definitely have some players,” a player mentioned before adding: “There is also a park in Hamhung [that] has about 4 PokeStops.”

Elaborating on how the PokeStops popped up in the unlikely location, a fan speculated: “There are some automatic stops that Niantic used to populate areas back in the day.”

It is certainly a surprise to receive the special postcard and the OP would probably cherish this extremely rare Pokemon Go grab, a game which may very well be popular in North Korea as well.

While you may or may not get a postcard from North Korea, you can check out where to find regional species such as Kangaskhan and Bouffalant in Pokemon Go.
