Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Bottle Caps

To get the best out of your Pokemon team in Scarlet & Violet, you will need Bottle Caps for a special mechanic called Hyper Training. Here’s what they are and how to get and use Bottle Caps in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

While adventuring in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you probably stumbled upon the Bottle Cap item. Players might be confused at first since there isn’t much information on how they work until you talk to the right NPC.

Thinking you might not need them is a common mistake, but the most difficult Raids or battles in Scarlet and Violet require the best Pokemon. In Paldea, you can build your own competitive Pokemon by using Bottle Caps to further improve each Pokemon’s hidden values, also called IVs.

Here’s all you need to know about Bottle Caps in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, including how to get and use them.

What are Bottle Caps in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet?

Bottle Caps in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are special items that raise a Pokemon’s hidden values, also called IVs. They come in two variations, Gold and Silver, and they serve almost the same purpose with different effects.

A Pokemon’s Individual Values, or IVs, are hidden stats that modify the creature’s main stats including HP, Defense, Special Defense, Attack, Special Attack, and Speed. Casual players might not know about them at all, and veteran ones will only find out about them when they finish the main story.

To further improve these stats and get the best out of your Pokemon team, you will need to bring Bottle Caps to a certain NPC in Paldea. Gold Bottle caps will completely raise all 6 hidden values of a Pokemon, while Silver Bottle Caps will raise only one.

Paradox Pokemon are the strongest creatures found in Paldea, and Bottle Caps are perfect for them.

Bottle Caps in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet can be purchased from the Delibird Presents shop in Mesagoza or obtained as Raid rewards. They are very expensive, so keep in mind that they should be saved for the end-game content and Pokemon.

Silver Bottle Caps cost 20,000 in-game currency, and Gold Bottle Caps can’t be purchased in the Delibird Presents shop. So to get the best version of this item, players will need to put in some extra work.

There are only two ways to get Gold Bottle Caps:

  • Buy them from the Auction House in Porto Marinada, south of Cascarrafa City
  • Get them as a reward from the Academy Ace Tournament

Keep in mind when Raiding for Silver Bottle Caps that only 5-star and 6-star Raids provide these items as rewards, so bring your best team to these high-level battles.

Montenevera City in Mount Glaseado is the location of the Hyper Training NPC.

To use Bottle Caps in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, players must find the Hyper Training NPC in Montenevera City. Look for an Abomasnow standing next to a man that when approached will say “Hyper Training! Get it here!”

Your Pokemon must be level 50 or above to train Individual Values, and you will need Silver or Gold Bottle Caps to do so. Once you talk to the man and select the Pokemon to Hyper Train, select the Bottle Cap to be used and if it’s a Silver one, the NPC will train one value to its “Best” form.

Pokemon with all IVs in “Best” form are the strongest versions of that creature, so keep that in mind and visit this NPC regularly to further improve your Pokemon.
