2K Games have revealed all the details about the new badge system in NBA 2K24. Here’s everything you need to know about how the revamped badge system works, how to progress through levels, and every new badge added to NBA 2K24.

We are on the eve of the NBA 2K24 release, which is why the 2K Games dev team is revealing all the in-depth details about each of the new features present in the different NBA 2K24 game modes.

We have already learned about all the changes coming to The W mode, as well as everything about NBA 2K24 Mamba Moments. Now, it’s time to know what the new badge system is all about.

In this guide, you will find everything you need to know about it, as well as all the new badges introduced to NBA 2K24 and how they can be upgraded.

How does the new badge system work in NBA 2K24

The badge system in NBA 2K24 will receive a significant overhaul, mainly aimed at improving the gameplay experience in the MyPLAYER mode. Every player must choose their badges wisely to determine their playing style.

The badges have been split into four tiers: S, A, B, and C-Tier, with obviously the S-Tier badges being the best of the lot. Each badge has a unique set of attribute requirements for unlocking or improving.

The dev team also points out that they have added 22 new badges to NBA 2K24 to provide enhanced flexibility. They have also improved the existing ones to ensure they are not left behind and to bring more balance to the game.

How to progress badge levels in NBA 2K24

In NBA 2K24 MyPLAYER mode, badge levels are influenced by how frequently the badges are activated during gameplay. Badges that are successfully used will tend to reach higher levels within your potential, while badges with lower usage will trend toward the lower levels. By the way, it is worth noting that your badges will never fall below the Bronze level.

So, to upgrade your badges, you will not only have to successfully use the skill or move on the court but also meet the rating requirement depending on the badge’s level and tier.

For example, if you want to upgrade your B-Tier Claymore badge to the Hall of Fame level, it won’t be enough to simply score three-pointers as the badge description indicates. Your player will also need to have a Three-Point Shot rating of 92.

To upgrade the Claymore badge to HoF level your player needs to have a Three-Point Shot rating of 92.

As if this weren’t enough, there are also other new features called Badge Perks, Performance Multiplier, and Floor Setters that will help you to upgrade your badges faster or to prevent their level from decreasing even if you don’t use them.

Badge Perks in NBA 2K24

This new feature consists of a page of “slots” that players can fill in with any unlocked badges. There are four slots per perk, and each slot represents a different badge tier. What’s more, each perk gives the player a different bonus, as we explain below:

  • Overdrive Perk: Increases badge level progression in games.
  • Immunity: Slows down badge level regression in games.
  • Drill Savant: Increases badge level progression in Team Practice Facility.
  • Scholar (Seasonal perk): Gives a significant increase in badge level progression for PvP games finished with a high Teammate Grade. However, if you don’t finish with a high Teammate Grade, you will receive no progression.
  • Winner’s Circle (Seasonal perk): Gives an added boost in badge level progression for PvP games that result in a win for the user. However, if you lose the game you will receive no progression.
  • High-Risk (Seasonal perk): Increases your badge level progression for PvP games with badge usage but accelerated regression with a lack of usage.

Floor Setters in NBA 2K24

There are 18 Floor Setter slots in total, nine for Silver and nine for Gold badges. Adding a Floor Setter to a badge will prevent the badge from ever dropping below the listed badge level. This Floor Setters can be earned via Season Pass.

Finally, it’s worth noting that they are permanent and cannot be changed, so you should choose wisely which badge you select.

Performance Multiplier in NBA 2K24

Unlike Badge Perks, the Performance Multiplier will provide you benefits to all of your equipped badges at once. There are a total of 12 multipliers divided by the four MyPLAYER modes: NBA, City, The REC, and Pro-Am.

  • Grade A Student: In games finished with a high Teammate Grade, badge level progression is accelerated.
  • Winner Takes All: In games finished with a win, badge-level progression is accelerated.
  • Up for the Challenge: In games played against tough opponents, badge-level progression is accelerated.
