The Call of Duty developers have confirmed that the RICOCHET system to counter cheaters and hackers will be available in both Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 at launch.
Cheating is a major problem faced by Call of Duty players, and the developers take this very seriously, with anti-cheat measures being implemented and hackers getting removed in massive ban waves.
On June 16, the Call of Duty developers posted a RICOCHET anti-cheat progress report in which they answered the community’s most common questions, including one about this system’s arrival in the Warzone and Modern Warfare sequels.
They responded: “RICOCHET anti-cheat – including its PC kernel-level driver – will be active on Day One for both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and the all-new Warzone 2.0.” So, both titles will have anti-cheat measures in place from day one.
The developers then added: “This is possible because of the foundation #TeamRICOCHET has developed and iterated on since it first launched, as well as the close collaboration we have with game teams.”
The RICOCHET anti-cheat system uses a kernel-level driver that detects any software and applications that could be used to hack or chat in Warzone, allowing the security team to respond quickly.
In the progress report, the devs reassured players that while encountering cheaters in both titles is still a possibility, the RICOCHET anti-cheat system will continue to “get smarter and better as time progresses.”
It remains to be seen how effective this system will be in countering cheaters and hackers when Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 finally arrive. We’ll be sure to keep you posted if there are any new developments once both titles launch.
