Helldivers 2 has released its first balance patch, and they have added Planetary Hazards to the mix. Here is everything you need to know about the new mechanic.

Helldivers 2 patch 01.000.100 brought about quite a few nerfs to the game’s best loadout, among other things that might change the way the game works. One of these changes is the addition of Planetary Hazards.

The update has added Planetary Hazards as a new threat to deal with when you land on some planets to complete your missions. Here is everything you need to know about them.

What are Planetary Hazards in Helldivers 2?

Planetary Hazards in Helldivers 2 are threats like tornadoes and meteor showers that will appear during missions.

In the 01.000.100 patch notes, Arrowhead Studios described Planetary Hazards as “environmental challenges that will appear at random while you are deployed, from fire tornadoes to meteor showers and many more.”

Enemies aren’t the only thing players will need to worry about in the new patch.

Helldivers 2 has not been described as an easy game, but if you were looking for a bit more of a challenge, these hazards will definitely bring that in force.

While we don’t know all the hazards that have been introduced, the sound of fire tornadoes and meteor showers is a pretty good indication that the rest will be just as intimidating.

The other thing that makes Planetary Hazards so, well, hazardous, is that they can seemingly drop at any time. This means that you could be in the middle of a major fight or just on the cusp of finishing off your mission as a fire tornado spawns.

Since this is a new addition to Helldivers 2, there’s no real strat to deal with them just yet. Especially because we don’t actually know what kind of effect they will have or what other hazards we can expect.
