The Grand Theft Auto series has long been one of gaming’s most popular franchises, and a remaster of three of the most beloved titles is officially on the way. Here’s everything we know about GTA The Trilogy: Definitive Edition’s release date, price, platforms, and more.

With GTA V and GTA Online being the runaway successes they are, many players may not have had the chance to go back and explore the series’ roots. Take-Two will release the GTA Trilogy Remastered in the not too distant future, containing Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City, and San Andreas.

Although GTA V and GTA Online do more than enough to keep players busy, with new updates and vehicles added consistently and even a next-gen port on the horizon, players will be eager to jump back into these three classic games, which helped make the franchise what it is today.

When does GTA Trilogy Remastered release?

GTA The Trilogy has finally got its release date, with Rockstar’s site revealing the game is set to arrive on PC, Switch, and PlayStation 5 on November 11, 2021. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox editions, which are listed as physical copies, are set to release on December 7, 2021.

As the Xbox and PS4 editions are listed as physical copies, there’s a chance that their digital versions will also release on November 11. And a previous rumor said that the physical PS5 and Xbox Series X|S copies will release in 2022.

Alongside the release date confirmation, we can also see that the GTA Trilogy will cost around $59.99 and £54.99.

GTA The Trilogy: Definitive Edition can now be pre-ordered through Rockstar’s store on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. But the Switch edition’s pre-order is still “coming soon.”

Also, it’s been confirmed that GTA San Andreas Definitive edition will hit Xbox Game Pass on November 11, and PlayStation Now on December 7.

Rockstar has revealed that the GTA Remastered Trilogy is set to launch on the following platforms:

  • PS4
  • PS5
  • Nintendo Switch
  • Xbox One
  • Xbox Series X|S
  • PC (Rockstar Games Launcher)
  • Mobile (iOS & Android)

It was also said that the PC and Mobile versions of the GTA Remasters won’t launch until 2022, as Rockstar is focusing on the console ports first. If the latest rumor is correct, the next-gen editions won’t release until 2022 either.

What will change in the GTA Remastered Trilogy?

The most significant update we expect to see in GTA Trilogy Remastered is in the visuals and controls.

Alongside the release date and price confirmations, Rockstar also detailed the kind of enhancements we’ll see in the remaster.

Here’s are the main confirmed changes in GTA The Trilogy: Enhanced Edition:

  • 4K-resolution support
  • Completely rebuilt lighting system
  • Environmental upgrades
  • High-resolution textures
  • Increased draw distances
  • Grand Theft Auto V-style controls
  • DLSS for PC

Rockstar also confirmed that the remasters will still maintain “the classic look and feel of the originals.”

GTA fans will have plenty to sink their teeth into with the Remastered Trilogy and the next-gen version of GTA V is also set to drop on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in March 2022.
