While fans are eagerly awaiting the GTA 6 reveal, a notable leaker is claiming that they’ll have to wait a while longer as development on the game hasn’t properly started yet.

Ever since Rockstar Games confirmed that GTA 6 is in development, players have been desperate to learn more details about this new installment in this popular open-world video game franchise.

There have been numerous leaks that may have possibly revealed the game’s playable characters, runtime, and other information. Now, a new report claims that the game’s development is proving to be troublesome.

Prominent leaker ‘TezFunz2’ claimed on Twitter that the GTA 4 and Red Dead Redemption remasters had been scrapped by Rockstar, likely because of the poor reception of the GTA Trilogy Definitive Editon.

The insider then confirmed that Rockstar still had plans to release more updates for the Trilogy Definitive Edition, but the company is slowing down so that they can also focus on developing GTA 6.

TezFunz2 made it clear that Rockstar Games are only now “fully working” on GTA 6. This means that the game’s development is proceeding much slower than fans anticipated, and we won’t get an official reveal anytime soon.

This is supported by a report from Kotaku claiming that Rockstar are now focusing their attention and resources on the development of GTA 6. Allegedly, their current goal is to get the game “finished and out the door.”

However, it’s worth keeping in mind that this information has not been verified by Rockstar yet, so take it with a grain of salt. At the time of writing, it’s uncertain exactly how much of GTA 6’s development has been completed.

According to the Take-Two 2022 earnings call, Rockstar’s parent company has confirmed new titles releasing in 2023, 2024, and 2025. While it’s unlikely that the game will arrive next year, we might see its release in 2024-2025.
