All WWE 2K24 game modes explained: MyRise, Showcase of Immortals, more

WWE 2K24 introduced plenty of new modes and also retains much of the previous traditional match types. So, here is a detailed breakdown of all the new modes, as well as all match types. 

WWE 2K24 features all the staples you’d expect from the long-running wrestling franchise, from a packed roster to many fan-favorite modes. 2K Games didn’t close its doors and introduced some eye-catching new match types either.

Headlining all the new additions in WWE 2K24 is returning Showcase of Immortals mode. Celebrating the storied history of the biggest event in WWE, WrestleMania, the mode will let you relieve 21 iconic matches across 40 years of its lifetime. 

Of course, there is more than one addition in modes and match types. Check below to see all the game modes in WWE 2K24 and what each of them is about.

All WWE 2K24 game modes

WWE 2K24 will feature the traditional game modes of the WWE 2K franchise, as well as some new and eye-catching match types that could become permanent additions. Below is a list of all the modes, as well as details on them.

MyRise

The traditional career mode makes a return to the franchise. WWE 2K24 presents the opportunity to create your own wrestler to compete in men’s (Undisputed) or women’s (Unleashed) wrestling. The goal is the same as every year: to turn that new WWE Recruit into the greatest wrestler of all time.

Both MyRise opportunities will feature two new storylines:

  • Undisputed: In the men’s career mode, players have the opportunity to enter the WWE Universal Championship bracket. Your first objective? Snatch the belt from Roman Reigns, become the WWE Universal Champion, and defend the title for as long as possible.
  • Unleashed: In the women’s career mode, players will be able to play as both the manager and wrestler of a highly popular independent wrestling brand debuting in the WWE. This setting leads to a new question: Can they increase the popularity of their brand and in turn become the top winner in the WWE?

MyRise also has tons of unlockables in Arena, MyFaction Cars, and Championship Belts.

MyFaction

The team-building mode returns in WWE 2K24 with the opportunity to add new WWE Superstars and Legends to your team. In this mode, you can form a four-wrestler team and compete in different game modes such as quick play, ranked online, and more.

Other modes include Faction Wars, Weekly Towers, and Proving Ground, with rewards that will help improve your MyFaction squad. In Faction Wars, you’ll have to fight through five different teams to reach the final boss fight, all in a single run. Meanwhile, Weekly Towers and Proving Ground are both mostly the same, there are multiple matches and chapters, and you’ll unlock them as you progress and complete the previous ones. 

2K Showcase of the Immortals

In celebration of the 40 years of WrestleMania, 2K Games added this game mode that allows you to recreate, as well as rewrite, the most iconic matches in the history of the wrestling tournament that captivates the world. Each match also has its own set of objectives.

  • WrestleMania 17: Stone Cold Steve Austin vs The Rock
  • WrestleMania 20: Eddie Guerrero vs Kurt Angle
  • WrestleMania 21: Shawn Michaels vs Kurt Angle
  • WrestleMania 25: The Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels
  • WrestleMania 30: The Undertaker vs Brock Lesner

MyGM

MyGM will allow you to take on the role of the General Manager, draft a new batch of WWE Superstars, and produce larger-than-life shows. You will also be able to offer contracts to your Superstars, trade them, and make various decisions to ensure you remain the GM of WWE for as long as possible. Up to 4 players can play this mode with each managing different brands.

Newly added manager options are Paul Heyman, Ted DiBiase, Theodore Long, and William Regal. As for the brands, there are a total of 6: Raw, SmackDown, NXT, NXT 2.0, ECW, and WCW.

This mode is very similar to MyNBA in NBA 2K24, where you become the protagonist of the story in different NBA eras.

Universe

Universe mode gives you the power to develop rivalries and create something never before seen in the WWE. The no-holds-barred sandbox is enhanced with more expanded rivalry actions, brand-new cutscenes, and double-title matches.

Finally, you can find a plethora of different match types inside all the game modes listed above in WWE 2K24. Here are all the new and returning match types.

The Casket match type is one of the new additions in WWE 2K24.

WWE 2K24 also added several new match types, here are all of them and a short rundown of their objectives and how to win them. 

  • Ambulance match
    • It was in previous installments but now received an overhaul. To win, you need to put your opponent inside an Ambulance by completing two submission mini-games to lock them in.
  • Backstage Brawl
    • It was in previous games, but now you can play in a Tag Team, Triple Threat, and Fatal 4-way. No pinfalls or submissions here, you’ll have to KO your opponent to win. 
  • Casket match
    • A casket will be there ringside, all you have to do is put your opponents inside it and shut the lid. 
  • Gauntlet match
    • A traditional in-ring fight where you’ll have to beat a series of different opponents in a singles match, all in a single run. 
  • Special Guest Referee
    • You can play as a referee and try to keep things civil and do your job. There will be a meter at the top that will display your performance. If you do a poor job, a timer will start and a new referee will be called in once it ends, but you can cheat and conclude the match before the new one arrives.
