The combat in No Rest for the Wicked can be a bit challenging when you’re still learning the attack patterns of enemies. That’s why, in addition to having the best weapons and gear, we recommend always having some food in your inventory.

If you don’t know how to cook in No Rest for the Wicked, we’ve got you covered with everything you need to know about the cooking system.

No Rest for the Wicked: Where to find Recipes

You can find food recipes in No Rest for the Wicked by buying them from a merchant or finding them randomly while looting.

The earliest recipes you can find are from Fillmore, the blacksmith whom you meet before you reach Sacrament. He has some simpler food recipes like Mushroom Soup and Crab Chowder, but these are worth picking up as cooked food has better healing properties.

Once you reach Sacrament, you will be able to access Gordon’s Pantry – but not before you complete a quest to rescue him in The Shallows.

How to rescue Gordon

You need to help Gordon get down from the broken bridge in The Shallows so that he can reopen his pantry in Sacrament for better food recipes. To get the quest, you need to chat to the Innkeeper near the entrance to Sacrament. She will ask you to find her husband in The Shallows.

Follow these steps to complete the quest:

  1. Head back to the Cerim Whisper in The Shallows, near the Fire Pit on the beach.
  2. Climb up the ladders.
  3. Go left and jump across the gap to the broken bridge.
  4. Speak with Gordon, then grab the Western Bridge key on the corpse next to gim.
  5. Head back to Mariner’s Keep.
  6. Go the Cerim’s Whisper in this area and go left.
  7. Go up the ladder and across the small plank to the left side.
  8. Use the Western Bridge key on the door in this area.
  9. Defeat all the enemies and loop around back to Gordon.
  10. Kick the ladder down and speak to Gordon.

Once you have helped him off the bridge, you will unlock Gordon’s Pantry where you can find more recipes and ingredients. You can also upgrade his pantry by speaking to Danos, which will unlock higher-tier recipes.

No Rest for the Wicked: How to cook

To cook in No Rest for the Wicked, you need to find and interact with a Fire Pit. Once you find one for the first time, the Fire Pit will be marked on the map, which will help you in the future if you need to cook again.

You can also cook using a Stove, which is necessary for late-to-endgame recipes. This can be accessed via Gordon’s Pantry once you have upgraded it, or you can buy one to add to your house.

It’s worth noting that No Rest for the Wicked is in early access, giving us just a small taste of what the full game will be like. So, it’s expected that Moon Studios will add new recipes and ingredients as they introduce new updates to the game.
