Here’s everything you need to know about Monster Hunter Wilds, which is the latest installment announced for the iconic Capcom franchise.

Capcom’s Monster Hunter is an extremely popular action RPG franchise that sees players taking on the role of a Hunter, who must slay and capture large monsters. Monster Hunter Wilds is the next major installment for the franchise, as announced during the Game Awards in 2023.

The game grew massively with its 2019 release, Monster Hunter World, and since then, Monster Hunter Rise has continued the trend.

Fans have been eager to learn more and more about its next release, Monster Hunter Wilds, so here’s everything you need to know so far.

Does Monster Hunter Wilds have a release date?

Monster Hunter Wilds does not currently have an official release date, but Capcom did reveal that the game will be released in 2025.

During 2023’s The Game Awards, Capcom officially revealed Monster Hunter Wilds with a new trailer, showing off some gameplay and also revealed the 2025 release window. As soon as more information on an exact release date is revealed, we’ll be sure to update this piece so stay tuned.

Monster Hunter Wilds platforms

Monster Hunter Wilds will be released on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam in 2025, according to the official website.

Monster Hunter Wilds is the exciting new installment for the franchise.

The devs have not mentioned a release on any other platforms, so it’s unlikely that we will see the game on the PS4 or Xbox One. The devs have also not revealed a Nintendo Switch version of the game, so it will likely skip the portable console as well.

That said, there’s always a chance that the game will be announced or even made for more platforms post-launch, so we’ll keep you updated.

Monster Hunter Wilds gameplay & setting details

While not many details have been shared, we expect Monster Hunter Wilds to have similar gameplay to previous titles in the franchise, where players will take control of a Hunter and are tasked with various missions that require you to take out or capture monsters.

Players can select from a range of different weapons that all offer unique playstyles and moves to take out monsters. There will likely be some new mechanics to help you traverse around the map and during combat, and as seen in the trailer, players will be able to ride a new mount that has the ability to glide.

The game seems to be set in an African-inspired location, with a desert biome taking center stage in the reveal trailer. Although not confirmed, many speculate that Monster Hunter Wilds could be the franchise’s first open-world game, but we’ll have to wait for official information regarding the setting and map to confirm that.
