Villain Venom in Spider-Man 2

With Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 marking the return of both Peter Parker and Miles Morales, fans are wondering which classic spidey villains the duo will be taking down this time. Here’s every confirmed villain in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, from Venom to Kraven the Hunter.

It’s no surprise that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is set to be one of the biggest releases of the year, following the success of the original in 2018 and the Miles Morales spin-off two years later. Several comic book fans have already pre-ordered their copy and are patiently waiting to see what Insomniac have in store for the highly anticipated sequel.

While both Miles and Peter’s Spider-Man are set to be the focus of the narrative, no superhero story is complete without a strong villain. The first game featured a bunch of familiar faces from the Spider-Man rogues gallery, and the follow-up, it seems, is no different.

With this in mind, we’ve put together all the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 villains confirmed so far.

All Spider-Man 2 villains confirmed so far

There have been a total of five villains confirmed to appear in Spider-Man 2 so far, some of which will play major roles in the game’s storyline, while others could show up in the occasional mission as boss fights.

Here’s a look at every villain in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 that has been revealed so far in trailers.

Venom

Venom in Spider-Man 2
Venom is one of the most recognizable villains Marvel has to offer.

Ever since the post-credits stinger seen at the end of the original game, fans have been desperately waiting to see Venom hit the streets of New York. Finally, in Spider-Man 2, their wishes are being answered.

The sequel seems to adapt part of the iconic Symbiote Saga into its campaign, only this time it appears that Peter’s lifelong friend Harry Osbourne will be replacing Eddie Brock inside the gooey alien. We also know that the symbiote escapes its containment and joins with Peter Parker, granting him powerful new abilities but drastically warping his personality.

Little else is known about how Harry will come to be Venom, or if he will be a fully-fledged villain rather than the anti-hero role the character has thrived in over the course of many comic runs.

Kraven the Hunter

Kraven the Hunter in Spider-Man 2

The other Spider-Man 2 villain to feature heavily in trailers leading up to release is Kraven the Hunter, who appears to be the man who sets the sequel’s story in motion. After growing bored hunting regular game in the jungle, Sergei Kravinoff arrives in Manhattan to raise the stakes and chalk off some superpowered foes.

Based on the trailers, Kraven will cross paths with our heroes while they stand between him and Lizard, earning both a spot in the antagonist’s bad books.

While Venom and a number of other villains will all have their roles to play, Kraven the Hunter is expected to play a pivotal role in how the story shakes out, especially in the early hours.

Lizard

Lizard is a Spider-Man staple.

One of the most iconic Spidey villains missing from the original, Lizard will make his debut in Insomiac’s universe with Spider-Man 2. Early trailers have teased a showdown with Curt Connors, who transformed himself into the vicious reptile while trying to regrow his lost arm.

We know that Connors and Peter have a history with each other thanks to a Backpack collectible that revealed Spider-Man had held on to a vial of his doctor’s blood. After a fight early in Peter’s crimefighting career, Lizard is thought to have been roaming the city ever since.

It looks like his hibernation was only temporary, though, and players will have to deal with this fearsome foe on at least one occasion.

Mr. Negative

One of the most surprising Spider-Man 2 announcements so far has been that the first game’s villain, Martin Li, better known as Mr. Negative will be making a return. In a trailer shared at San Diego Comic-Con, it was revealed that Li is coming back for the sequel, with voice actor Nadji Jeter explaining that he will play a vital role in Miles’ story.

Mister Negative was directly responsible for the death of Jefferson Davis in the 2018 game, and the younger of the two Spider-Men will come face to face with his father’s killer in prison.

Little else is known about Mr. Negative in Spider-Man 2, but it would certainly be a surprise if he remained behind bars for the campaign.

Grizzly

Grizzly in Spider-Man 2
Grizzly was spotted in the Comic-Con trailer.

In the trailer from San Diego Comic-Con, eagle-eyed fans spotted another villain wearing a bear skin over his head, leading many to believe this is Grizzly in Spider-Man 2. Insomniac love to throw more obscure characters into the mix wherever they can, and Max Markham would make for an interesting inclusion.

Traditionally, the former wrestler uses an enhanced bear suit to grant him super-human strength, going after the Daily Bugle’s J. Jonah Jameson for publishing a story that would eventually end his career.

Given his appearance, Grizzy could easily wind up being one of Kraven’s targets, but it isn’t clear right now if he will be a major character throughout the game.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 expected villains

While only a handful of villains have been confirmed for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, plenty of other characters could show up. These include foes from the original game, many of whom will likely still be imprisoned on The Raft by the time the sequel’s story picks up. Notable mentions are Martin Li, who appears in the

Here’s a list of the other Spider-Man 2 villains that could appear, but haven’t been confirmed yet.

  • Black Cat
  • Dr. Octopus
  • Kingpin
  • Mysterio
  • Prowler
  • Scorpion
  • Shocker
  • Taskmaster
  • Tombstone

There you have it! That was every Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 villain confirmed so far. We’ll be sure to update this page with any more big-name criminals that are announced in the lead-up to launch.
