Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on the PS5 has several distinct graphics modes, and several other settings to go along with them. Here is the best graphics mode to use in Spider-Man 2.

Spider-Man 2 aims to expand on everything that made the original great, and the most obvious update is the visuals. The game offers two different graphics modes — Fidelity and Performance. However, there are some other options that can completely change how the game looks.

To experience the new game with all its new villains, new suits, and the new storyline with Peter and Miles, you should be choosing the best-looking preset. So here’s the best graphics mode you should set for Spider-Man 2 and all you need to know about it.

Spider-Man 2’s best graphics mode explained

The best graphics mode for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is Performance Mode with VRR set to Smoothed and 120 Hz display mode turned on. This allows for a crisp-looking game at 1080p and 1440p resolution displays. It only gives you a minor drop in quality but higher frame rates.

However, if you prefer the highest quality and don’t mind playing Spider-Man 2 at 40 FPS, Fidelity Mode with VRR set to Smoothed and 120 Hz display mode enabled is the best graphics mode.

Ray-tracing refines all the rough spots to make everything look crisp.

Here’s a detailed explanation of all the graphics modes and settings in Spider-Man 2 and what they do:

  • Fidelity Mode: This is the default graphics mode in the game, where the frame rate is locked at 30 FPS for up to 4K resolution. This is naturally the best-looking preset, with traffic and pedestrian density, hair detail, and all Ray-tracing settings at maximum. The Ray-tracing features include ray-traced reflections, ray-tracing on water, and ray-traced window interiors.
  • Performance Mode: This graphics mode targets 60 FPS and is set for 1080p to 1440p resolutions. The dip in quality when switching to Performance isn’t that high, thanks to Ray-tracing, but some things are toned down. Traffic and pedestrian density, as well as hair detail, are also lowered.
  • VRR: Variable Refresh Rate can be enabled for displays that support it, and it gives you a higher refresh rate.
    • Smoothed: This will maintain the resolution and target a fixed frame rate.
    • Uncapped: This will lower resolution when required to go for higher frame rates.
  • 120 HZ Display Mode: As expected, this increases your frame rates to reach up to 120 Hz with a compatible display. This allows Fidelity Mode to support up to 40 FPS whereas Performance Mode goes up to 70-80 FPS.

That’s everything you need to know about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s best graphics mode. To read more about the game, check out:
