What is 2XKO? Everything we know about the League of Legends 2D fighter

A few years ago, Riot Games started to expand its League of Legends world with new single and multi-player games. 2XKO, formerly known as Project L, is part of that expanded universe, and now it has a new trailer and an expected release window.

If you are looking forward to the game, here’s everything you need to know about 2XKO, from its release window to the platforms it’ll be available on and all trailers.

Does 2XKO have a release date?

No, it doesn’t have a specific release date yet. However, Riot Games has shared that it will be released in 2025. It is still uncertain when 2025 the new fighting game will be released, but we’ll keep you updated with all the information as soon as it is confirmed.

What platforms will 2XKO be on?

2XKO is confirmed to be released on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. It is still a mystery if the new fighting game will support crossplay or not, but we’ll be sure to update this guide as soon as we get more information.

2XKO gameplay

2XKO is a 2vs2 2D fighting game, similar to other anime fighter games like Persona 4 Arena, Guilty Gear, or Dragon Ball FighterZ.

Just like other fighting games, the characters will have their own set of abilities and attack patterns that are linked to their position in the field. For example, if your character is airborne, they will have a different set of attacks compared to those on the ground.

You can also swamp in between characters, much like an assist-based system, and tag their teammates for support during matches. You can use these to seamlessly perform various tricks, from interrupting enemy attacks to performing massive combos.

Will 2XKO be free-to-play?

2XKO is expected to follow the same free-to-play model as League of Legends and VALORANT, but Riot Games haven’t confirmed this yet.

The trailer showcases fast battle gameplay, with Ahri, Ekko, Yasuo, and Darius seen in the 2vs2 style that the Riot Games fighting title will follow.

With the upcoming 2XKO Alpha Lab playtest, players all over the world will get the opportunity to try out this title, and immerse into its 2D combat.
