Riot Games’ new entry in the League of Legends universe is called 2XKO, and leaving its ‘Project L’ name behind, the company is ready to tackle the fighting game genre. So, here’s what we know about 2XKO, including its expected release date, platforms, and gameplay details.

A few years ago, Riot Games started to expand its League of Legends world with new single and multi-player games. 2XKO is part of that expanded universe, and the former Project L has a new name, trailer, and now an expected release date.

League of Legends also received a critically acclaimed Netflix series called Arcane, which won best videogame adaptation on The Game Awards 2023. Now, it is time for Riot to embrace the fighting game community with 2XKO.

2XKO expected release date

Riot Games has shared that the former Project L, now called 2XKO, will be released in 2025. It is still uncertain when in 2025 the new fighting game will be released, but we’ll keep you updated with all the information as soon as it is confirmed.

2XKO platforms

2XKO is confirmed to be released on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. It is still a mystery if the new fighting game will support crossplay or not, but we’ll be sure to update this guide as soon as we get more information.

2XKO gameplay

2XKO is a 2vs2 2D fighting game, similar to other anime fighter games like Persona 4 Arena, Guilty Gear, or Dragon Ball FighterZ.

Will 2XKO be free-to-play?

2XKO is expected to follow the same free-to-play model as League of Legends and VALORANT, but Riot Games haven’t confirmed this yet.

The trailer showcases fast battle gameplay, with Ahri, Ekko, Yasuo, and Darius seen in the 2vs2 style that the Riot Games fighting game will follow.
