Fortnite underwent significant changes after Epic Games implemented the 22.30 update patch, and there are brand-new Herald Quests available for you to complete after hopping into the game.

One of these Quests tasks you with taming Chrome-ified wildlife around the island. This will grant you access to free cosmetic rewards, so we’ll go over how you can get the challenge done.

Where to find Chrome-ified wildlife in Fortnite

Chrome-ified wildlife can mostly be found near forests around the map. Parts of the island were covered in Chrome in Chapter 3, Season 4, and animals that wander into these areas get covered in this substance themselves.

You can also find regular animals and throw Chrome Splash on them after collecting the item as floor loot or from chests. If you don’t want to spend time looking for Chrome Splash then you’ll plenty of Chrome-ified wildlife at Herald’s Sanctum on the east side of the Fortnite map.

How to tame Chrome-ified wildlife in Fortnite

You’ll need to jump on the backs of Chrome-ified wolves and boars to complete this Quest. In previous seasons, you would need to lure them in with meat beforehand, but thankfully that’s no longer a requirement.

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Hop into Fortnite
  2. Grab Chrome Splash from chests or as floor loot
  3. Explore areas with forests nearby until you find a wolf or boar
  4. Throw the Chrome Splash on the beast
  5. Jump on the creature’s back to tame it

Once this is done, the creature will become your ally and you’ll be able to ride on its back across the map. If you decide to explore an area on foot, it will follow you around closely.

Taming two Chrome-ified wildlife will award you the Fading Ember Cloak Back Bling. You can also attempt to complete other Herald Quests such as the one that requires you to ignite structures.
