Epic Games have introduced a new Fortnite setting that allows players to hide “Confrontational Emotes,” so here’s how to do it.

Fortnite‘s Emotes are iconic, as they have always been a major aspect of player expression in the game, on top of skins. That said, Epic Games believes some are used in a manner that can be considered “overly confrontational,” so they have introduced a new setting to hide certain Emotes in Fortnite.

For those interested in the setting, here’s how you can hide Emotes in Fortnite.

How to turn on & off Confrontation Emotes setting in Fortnite

You can see or hide Confrontational Emotes in Fortnite by following these steps:

  1. Go to the Fortnite Settings page.
  2. Head to the “Account and Privacy” tab.
  3. Scroll down and under “Social Privacy” you will find the “See Confrontational Emotes” setting.
  4. Select the option you wish to use:
    • From Anyone
    • From Friends in Party
    • Never

It’s important to note that this setting’s default is “From Friends in Party,” so if you wish to see all Emotes, change this to “From Anyone.”

This setting doesn’t prevent anyone from using the Emotes they have purchased in Fortnite, but it will hide it from players who have selected the relevant option in the See Confrontational Emotes setting.

Fortnite Emotes affected by See Confrontational Emotes setting

Here are all of the Emotes affected by the See Confrontation Emotes setting in Fortnite:

  • Laugh It Up
  • Take the L
  • Whipcrack
  • Make It Plantain

Some of these Emotes have been around since the Fortnite OG, and Take the L is an iconic Emote that took over popular culture back when it was first released, with various sports stars such as Soccer player Antoine Griezmann famously doing the dance as a goal celebration.

This new setting caters to all, allowing players to continue seeing them if they wish, while also hiding them for players who would rather not.
