Fortnite players beg devs to vault broken shotgun in Chapter 5 Season 2

Fortnite fans are blaming this “OP” shotgun for breaking the game’s meta and are asking Epic Games to vault it until they can introduce more powerful close-combat weapons that won’t get “overshadowed.”

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1 added a whole lot of content that players have already had the chance to try. Season 2 is just around the corner, and users are trying to get Epic Games’ attention on a couple of items that they blame for the “unbalanced” weapon meta.

One of those weapons is the Frenzy Auto Shotgun, an automatic weapon with a headshot multiplier of 1,75x and no maximum damage cap. Unlike most Shotguns in Fortnite, this version can reload all its shells at once.

As well as the Sniper Rifles, this item has been deemed almost unbeatable for most players since its damage and DPS make it almost impossible to defeat when it comes to a close-range combat.

“Many games end up being miserable because I just run into a full squad, and they all just pull out their frenzy autos and I melt instantly. People complain about the sniper, but at the very least you HAVE to hit a headshot to reliably kill anyone with it,” said user ‘Xeroticz’ in a Reddit thread titled “Anybody else hope this joke of a shotgun goes away next season?”.

Most Fortnite fans agreed with this statement and complained that the Frenzy Auto Shotgun had completely overshadowed any other type of weapon. They’ve also pointed out that not only the common version of this gear was “broken,” but using its legendary form was borderline cheating.

“I’ve been playing Fortnite for around a year now and have experienced the drum shotgun in CH4S3 (there was a mythic one too btw). OG Season’s lasted 2 weeks, and now this thing has higher DPS than the Drum shotgun. I really just want it to go away forever, idk why Epic keeps putting brainless shotguns like these on the game,” expressed user ‘usagiii__.’

There’s no way to be sure what changes Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 will introduce in the game’s meta, but we’ll keep you updated when Epic Games officially release the game’s patch notes.
