The “Riot Shield” has been almost impossible to counter since it was introduced in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1, but a player has figured out an easy trick that makes it almost useless.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1 has overhauled its entire meta, and besides introducing new game modes, Epic Games added plenty of weapons and tools. While players put them to the test on the battle royale’s island, the majority are split over the Riot Shield, which they have deemed almost impossible to counter until now.

A Fortnite fan took it to Reddit to reveal a trick that can easily cut the shield and even destabilize the player that’s holding it. “NO, DON’T SHARE THE SECRET! For some reason, a lot of people think the shield is this unbeatable weapon and refuse to learn how to counter it, but now they will use this!,” joked user ‘Walnut156’ and also admitted that it was “good info to get out there.”

According to the clip that Redditor ‘SirTeaOfBagz’ shared, players can make use of the Grapple Blade to strike opponents using the Riot Shield (officially named Ballistic Shield). The weapons seem to go through the shield, and, while landing consecutive blows, it’s able to hit the enemy with no interference from their shield.

“I’ve gotta get better with this thing. Only been using it for mobility so far,” admitted Redditor ‘CrispyRusski.’ Other fans agreed that this has been an “underrated trick” that has been known for a while, and pointed out that the best Fortnite players already incorporated this strategy to counter the Riot Shield.

But even if most players were amazed by the different functionalities of the Grapple Blade, others stated that they were getting bored by the weapons introduced by Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1. ” Would be thrilled if they unvaulted the rapid-fire SMG, SCAR without scope, and maybe a revolver or pump,” pointed out Redditor ‘salamandrasalamanca.’

“Some variety would for sure be nice. Like 1/2 of the loot pool I don’t enjoy using, so I end up with rotating similar loadouts every game. But when I get bored, I’ve just been jumping over to Lego or rocket racing,” commented the OP of the main post.

And that’s everything you need to know about the “underrated” Fortnite trick that can easily counter the Riot Shield.
