Hogwarts Legacy is finally set to give Harry Potter fans the ultimate tour of the wizarding world they’ve always wanted, but which classic characters will be along for the ride?

One of 2023’s most anticipated games is undoubtedly Hogwarts Legacy as a full, living breathing, open-world RPG game set in the world of Harry Potter has been a dream for many people for the longest time.

Thanks to the brains at Avalanche Studios, this dream is now a reality, and players will be able to fully immerse themself in the surroundings of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, along with plenty of other recognizable locales from the franchise.

Hogwarts Legacy looks set to capture the magic of the famed series and it will be populated with fellow students and teachers around the school. With that being said, are any of them pulled directly from the books and films, or are they all new to Hogwarts Legacy?

When is Hogwarts Legacy set?

In contrast to the existing Harry Potter source material, Hogwarts Legacy will take place in the 1800s, over a hundred years before the books and films. So you won’t be seeing star names like Harry, Ron, Hermoine, Severus Snape, and Draco Malfoy.

Which real Harry Potter characters are in Hogwarts Legacy?

However, due to the knowledge of ancestral roots and information taken from existing gameplay, several names and faces have been spotted ahead of the game’s full release:

  • Hector Weasley
  • Nearly Headless Nick
  • Peeves
  • Professor Cuthbert Binns
  • Professor Phineas Nigellus Black
  • The Fat Lady
  • Victor Rookwood

As you can see from the likes of Hector Weasley, we can maybe expect to see a few students that will eventually tie into the later years that fans are more familiar with.

The Phantom faces of Peeves and Nearly Headless Nick will make players feel right at home, so we’ll just have to wait and see if Hogwarts Legacy has any surprises up its sleeve.
