Diablo 4 players want popular D3 feature back to fix “boring” skill trees

Diablo 4 has seen some major improvements in terms of features when compared to the other games in the franchise. However, players have been missing a feature from D3 and feel that it could improve skill trees in the current game.

Diablo 4 follows a point method of skill unlocks while leveling up. What this means is, that whenever you level up, you get a skill point with which you can unlock a particular skill.

The overall output of any skill is determined by the number of points that you choose to invest in it. This way of unlocking skills is a feature that is new to Diablo 4.

As for D3, each skill had around six different variations along with a mastery associated with it. To unlock these skills, you had to hit a specific level. ‘Lucas2009’ took to Reddit to share how they felt about the skill tree progression system in Diablo 4.

A player responded to OP and said, “Once you realize that every skill has the potential to dramatically change through masteries (and you realize there are 15 class masteries), it is almost overwhelming.”

Redditor ‘Chorvan’ commented, “I still do not get how (the) Diablo 4 talent tree was approved. It’s so boring. It’s just so horribly boring! And really 4 games and the skills are static? No choices to make them change?”

There were a few players who pointed out that the Legendary Aspects in Diablo 4 were a replacement to the skill tree unlock feature in the previous game. Player “Clankyboy96” replied, “Not even close. In D3, each skill had 5 runes to choose from. Skills (in the current game) are lucky if they even have 2 (Legendary) Aspects that support the skill. The lack of options is criminal.”

Redditor ‘rmrfpoof’ agreed to what OP had to say and added, “Yes, D3 skill rune provides much more variety than D4 skill trees. I really hate that the developer decided to move the skill modifiers to gears.”

With Diablo 4 Season 4 releasing on April 14, it will be interesting to see what changes the developers come up with. Till then, be sure to check out how to farm Igneous Core and how to craft Uber Uniques in the game.
