Cold War’s XM4 was the meta Warzone Assault Rifle ahead of Season 3 but many now prefer the STG44 after its major buffs. However, pro player and streamer IceManIsaac has explained why you shouldn’t write off the XM4.

The XM4 is one of the easiest-to-control weapons in the game, having a completely vertical recoil pattern that allows you to beam enemies at range with ease. Although it became even better than it was ahead of Season 3, most players have now switched to the STG44 thanks to its major buffs.

However, Warzone pro and streamer IceManIsaac has proven that the XM4 is still “absolutely the meta” in Season 3, explaining why you shouldn’t let it gather dust in your loadouts.

IceManIsaac compared the XM4’s time to kill with the STG, which is currently the most popular weapon in Warzone with a 15% pick rate. He revealed that the XM4 kills faster when hitting any body part other than the chest, where it still kills at around the same speed as the STG.

It’s highly unlikely that every bullet you land will be a chest shot as not very many enemies will just stand still facing you — even if you’re an accurate player, bullets will still be hitting their stomach, arms, neck, and legs. With its easy-to-control recoil and high damage to extremities, Isaac said it’s “absolutely the meta” in Season 3.

Vanguard’s weapons are infamous for how long they take to level up but he said that you don’t need to worry about leveling up the STG44 if you haven’t already as the XM4 is just as good, if not better.

The meta XM4 build hasn’t changed either, as players should still run the Agency Suppressor and Task Force barrel that have been meta for months.

A ton of Warzone 2 details have leaked recently, so you can also check out the reports that the sequel will feature an interrogation mechanic, Pro Perks, a bag inventory system, and armor vests.
