The XM4 has dominated Warzone for some time now, causing the developers to step in and nerf the popular Assault Rifle to make it less effective. However, Warzone expert IceManIsaac has proved that the Vargo 52 is the perfect replacement.

The XM4 has been one of the go-to Assault Rifles in Warzone ever since the Black Ops Cold War days. Even as the Vanguard weapons took over after the switch to Caldera, the XM4 has remained one of the game’s most popular meta weapons.

This has led Raven to hit the AR with multiple nerfs to try and make it more balanced, first in Season 3, then in subsequent updates, and again in Season 3 Reloaded. After so many hits to its max damage and range, many players might be thinking of moving on from the XM4.

Luckily, Warzone expert IceManIsaac believes he’s found the perfect replacement in the form of the Vargo 52.

Vargo 52 in Warzone

IceManIsaac described the Vargo 52 as the “faster-rate, lower recoil alternative” to the XM4 in a recent video. He then compared the AR’s stats and found that there was very little difference between the two, but the Vargo was beginning to edge ahead.

When looking at time-to-kill (TTK), the YouTuber revealed that from 29 meters onwards the Vargo was faster by nearly 100ms. This applies to every area of the body other than headshots, as the XM4 was buffed in that department.

He found that the Vargo also allowed players to move around the Warzone map “significantly” faster than the XM4, both when running and aiming down sight.

Throw in virtually identical recoil patterns and muzzle velocity, and Isaac concluded that the Vargo 52 was now “statistically better” than the XM4. He also showed off the best setup for CW Assault Rifle, which we’ve listed below:

IceManIsaac’s best Warzone Vargo 52 loadout

  • Muzzle: Gru Suppressor
  • Barrel: 18.6″ Task Force
  • Optic: Axial Arms 3x
  • Underbarrel: Field Agent Grip
  • Ammunition: 45 Round Mags

The YouTuber explained that this setup is ideal for Solos or Duos, as this is how to achieve the performance mentioned earlier that overshadows the XM4. If players wanted to try the weapon on Quads, he recommended switching to the 60 Round Mags instead.

So, if you’re an XM4 fan who’s been hurt by the recent nerfs, perhaps you should consider running the Vargo 52 in your next game on Caldera. It packs all the punch of its rival but offers even greater movement options.
