The Warzone 2 Season 5 Reloaded has arrived with a bang by introducing a major change to the Al Mazrah map, destroying one of the most popular landing spots in the game.

Warzone 2 Season 5 Reloaded is finally here, bringing with it a selection of new weapons and a ton of balancing changes set to overhaul the meta. There’s also the Fort Resurgence game mode and a fresh set of camo challenges for fans to work through.

But while players are grinding to unlock the Lachmann Shroud or driving around in Armored Royale, they might notice a major map change on Al Mazrah. That’s because one of Warzone’s hottest drop sites has been reduced to rubble following the Season 5 Reloaded update.

In mid-season patch notes, the devs explained that: “Following the catastrophic events of Shadow Siege in Al Mazrah, Zaya Observatory has been destroyed.”

This means that while Zaya Observatory is still around on the map, the popular landing spot looks very different after the update.

The Warzone 2 Shadown Siege event served as the reveal of Modern Warfare 3, which tasked players with exacting Gas Cannisters from a hidden bunker underneath the POI. This started with eight missile launchers firing at the Observatory at once and destroying it.

Since the event ended players have been able to continue landing at Zaya Observatory, better known as Dome from the original MW3, in its original state. However, in Warzone 2 Season 5 Reloaded, the POI that dominated the center of Al Mazrah has been turned to ruin.

Despite this, it remains a possible drop site with plenty of loot up for grabs, but players will have to learn a new layout thanks to the destruction of the missile attack.

Only time will tell how the major map change will affect the popularity of Observatory in Warzone 2 going forward.
