While looting Al Mazrah in Warzone 2’s DMZ mode, you’ll stumble across Keys that can be put into your Backpack. Here’s what these DMZ keys are for and how to use them.

Warzone 2’s DMZ brings a brand-new experience to Call of Duty, allowing players to explore the entirety of Al Mazrah while completing missions, gathering loot, and battling other players and the AI.

There are plenty of great rewards to earn including unique weapon Blueprints, Double XP, and the M13B Assault Rifle. But you’ll need to find keys to get some of these rewards, so here’s everything you need to know about keys in Warzone 2’s DMZ mode including what they do and where to find them.

What are DMZ keys used for in Warzone 2?

Keys found in Warzone 2’s DMZ mode will open locked Caches and doors around Al Mazrah, but they won’t always tell you exactly where they can be used. Similarly, you may stumble across these locked areas and you’ll need to find the right key to open them.

When you find a key in DMZ, it’ll give you a rough location of where the Cache can be found. Some keys will tell you the exact coordinate but, for example, the Sunken Ship Captain’s Cache Key is used in a “Sunken Ship off the coast of Al-Mazrah” in “?8.”

This is a rough coordinate on the Warzone 2 map showing that it’s in row 8 (e.g C8 or D8). However, it doesn’t tell you the letter, so you’ll need to do some exploring to find the Sunken Ship. Within this ship will be the Captain’s Cache, and you’ll need the key to open it and claim the rewards.

These keys can only be used three times so you can’t keep visiting the same location over and over again to keep claiming the loot. You can also find a key that only has one use left, so there’s a bit of luck involved.

How to find keys in DMZ

Keys can be found all over Al Mazrah in the DMZ mode, including containers such as chests, duffle bags, and lockers, as well as in other players’ Backpacks and AQ Soldiers, the AI.

Where you find the key doesn’t correspond to its location in any way, so you might need to travel across the map to use it. Or, you can extract and use it in the next game you play.

Once more and more keys and their corresponding caches are found, we’ll be sure to let you know where to bring each key.
