80 and 105 FOV in Warzone Pacific

For Warzone PC players, Field of View is an extremely important setting. It allows you to see much more of what’s around you, but having the wrong settings can completely throw your game off. Here are the best FOV settings for Warzone Season 5 Reloaded.

Field of View, or FOV, is a setting available in most competitive FPS games. This allows you to adjust how much of your surroundings you can see. YouTuber JGOD has demonstrated the incredible difference that having a FOV slider has in your game, and players were delighted to see it finally arrived in Modern Warfare 2.

For the most part, the higher the FOV you have, the better. Having a high FOV will majorly improve your spatial awareness, allowing you to see enemies that would usually be off to the side of your screen. However, having your FOV cranked to the max can make targets appear small and also give a massive hit to your performance.

We’re taking a look at the best FOV settings for Warzone Season 5 Reloaded.

How to change FOV in Warzone Season 5

If you’re on PC, you can adjust your FOV by going into Warzone’s settings and using the following options:

  1. Launch Call of Duty: Warzone
  2. Open up settings
  3. Select the ‘General’ tab
  4. Look under the ‘Screen’ section for FOV settings
  5. Click on ‘Advanced’ for more options

Unfortunately, only PC Warzone players have received a FOV slider, and console players are locked to 80.

Best FOV for Warzone controller players

example of Warzone with 100 FOV

For a controller player, anywhere between 95 and 105 is an ideal FOV. You’ll get all the spatial awareness of a high FOV, but your targets won’t be so shrunk that they’re difficult to see and hit. As many controller players will have trouble making the micro-adjustments that a mouse offers, you don’t want your FOV to be too high.

If you’re playing Warzone on PC with a controller, you need to have a FOV that complements your gameplay. Once you have the best settings, you need to find the FOV that’s right for you.

Warzone defaults to 80 FOV, and this is also what console players are locked to. However, PC players get the option of raising their FOV all the way up to 120, and a high FOV has its pros and cons.

Having a high FOV shrinks targets at long range to fit more into your screen, and this makes them difficult to hit — especially when accounting for Aim Assist. Too low, however, and too much of your screen will be cut. You won’t see enemies off to the side, and you may get motion sickness.

Controller players playing on high FOV should take advantage of the Scale Aim Assist with FOV option, and set it to Enabled. This scales the aim assist bubbles with your FOV, meaning your aim will feel consistent no matter your field of view.

Best FOV for Warzone mouse and keyboard players

Example of Warzone with 110 FOV

We recommend Warzone mouse and keyboard players set their FOV from anywhere between 105 and 115. You won’t have the ‘fisheye’ effect that a 120 FOV offers, but you can take advantage of a mouse’s fine aim control to hit those slightly smaller targets.

Luckily for Warzone mouse and keyboard players, they don’t need to worry about Aim Assist. No matter how small their targets are from a high FOV, they can make those fine adjustments without the Aim Assist bubble getting in the way.

Making these fine adjustments are especially important when playing at a high FOV, as objects and targets will be much smaller as the game fits more into your screen.

Does FOV affect PC performance?

Unfortunately, if you’re running a slightly dated graphics card, having a high FOV can severely affect your PC’s performance.

As the game tries to display more information on-screen, this will be a lot more taxing on your system. You need to experiment with the FOV slider and find the setting that’s right for your system. If it’s struggling, consider taking the FOV down to under 100 and see if that helps.

However, there have been reports that increasing FOV actually improves FPS, so it’s worth experimenting with.

What is Affected FOV in Warzone?

Warzone offers players the option to set their aim down sight FOV as Independent or Affected. Both of these settings have their pros and cons, so we’re breaking down each to help you decide which you should use.

Independent FOV

Example of Warzone Independent FOV

When set to Independent, when you ADS with low-zoom optics and iron sights, your game will go to around 80 FOV. The game defaults your FOV to 80. This is what console versions of the game run at, and is the standard for Call of Duty games.

Even if you’re playing at a FOV of 120, your game will zoom in when you ADS, making far-off targets easier to track and hit – especially when you’re using a controller. However, while aiming, you’ll lose a ton of the spatial awareness that a high FOV offers.

We recommend most players use Independent FOV as targets will be much easier to see and hit, especially at the long ranges of Caldera. Having Independent is the best of both worlds — you get your huge FOV when moving, and then get a tight and accurate view when shooting.

Affected FOV

Example of Warzone affected FOV

Setting your FOV to affected means that your field of view remains constant, even when you’re aiming. Some players prefer this as there’s jarring zoom when aiming at a target, there’s less visual recoil, and you keep your spatial awareness.

The targets will continue to appear small and far away, making them harder to hit, which is why some players avoid this setting. It will also cause aim assist bubbles to feel slightly inconsistent, so it’s a setting more suited to mouse and keyboard players.

PC players with large, high-resolution monitors can take advantage of affected FOV. They’ll still be able to see the enemies they’re aiming at clearly, allowing them to keep the advantage of a high FOV.

Will a Warzone FOV slider come to consoles?

Warzone Operators in a line

Unfortunately, a Warzone FOV slider will not be coming to consoles. Warzone console players have long been requesting a FOV slider because it offers a distinct advantage to PC players, and with crossplay enabled by default, many find this advantage unfair.

With how taxing a high FOV is on hardware, Activision was concerned that including the slider on the Xbox One and PS4 would affect performance too much. Fans’ disappointment was amplified when Black Ops Cold War and Vanguard released with a FOV slider on all platforms.

Their disappointment was amplified again when Warzone Pacific devs confirmed that console players would not be receiving a FOV slider. Despite the new hardware, it seems adding a FOV slider for console players would require a massive overhaul.

Warzone 2 is almost here, so players are hoping that Modern Warfare 2’s FOV slider will carry over into the battle royale and DMZ, but there’s been no confirmation on that yet.

Like almost all settings in Warzone, it’s all down to preference. You should test different FOVs with Affected and Independent ADS options, and see what works best for you.
