Vanguard players feel “pacings” and “declining player base” are ruining matchmaking

Vanguard introduced a new mechanic to the Call of Duty multiplayer experience called Combat Pacing. Unfortunately, players actually feel as if this new feature coupled with a “declining player base” is running matchmaking.

With Call of Duty: Vanguard Season 3 just around the corner, you’d think there would be a buzz surrounding the community. While this is the case for Warzone, it seems Vanguard players are more concerned about the declining player base, and the effect it is having on matchmaking.

As well as this, Vanguard players are also blaming Combat Pacing for having a negative impact on matchmaking, claiming the feature is “ruining” the experience.

Reddit user Jfu88 put a post up on the Warzone subreddit expressing their opinion on Combat Pacing, claiming that the feature is “ruining matchmaking.”

Combat Pacing was ironically introduced to make matchmaking better for players, allowing them to choose the type of experience they want. For example, for those who like hectic games, Blitz is the best option, and for those who like a slow-paced game, Tactical is the way to go.

However, what has ended up happening is that players are now feeling as if they are unable to get “consistent lobbies.” Despite selecting a specific pacing, it seems players aren’t actually getting what they have selected:

“I have selected Blitz pacing, and I’m not even kidding when I say probably 7 or 8 times out of 10, I get tactical with like 3 other players…”

Ultimately, the players feel as if this is ruining matchmaking, and one user in the comments even says alongside a “declining player base” it makes matchmaking much worse.

Further, some players are even claiming skill-based matchmaking is also making the situation even worse: “Don’t forget ‘+SBMM.’ That’s another factor f****** the matchmaking.”

With Vanguard entering its third season and potentially not even getting a sixth, we doubt much more will be done to improve the situation. With all the complaints Combat Pacing has received, it’s also unlikely that we will see it return in Modern Warfare II.
