Modern Warfare 2 players have called out Infinity Ward after the developer announced they would be sticking with the controversial timed Perks in the Season 2 update.

Call of Duty players were disappointed to learn that Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 Season 2 would be delayed by two weeks but were hopeful about the developers making improvements to both games in the update.

After a deep dive blog revealed what Modern Warfare 2 players should expect from the update, they were disappointed with the game receiving fewer changes than Warzone 2. Now, players are expressing their frustration with another aspect of Season 2.

In the MW2 blog post, the developers stated that after going through feedback from the community, they’ve updated the rate at which bonus and ultimate Perks are earned, allowing players to access Ghost earlier in matches.

While some players may be relieved that it takes less time to earn these Perks, others are not happy with these changes. Reddit user ‘timobile1’ explained: “Nobody wants timed perks. Just accept it. This is the third time decrease. Listen to your community. So disappointing.”

Many of the commenters agreed with this sentiment, with one user replying: “I mean, will they keep reducing the timer until we end up just starting with them? Lol. I don’t understand their stubbornness.”

Several players made it clear that they’re not fans of timed Perks, and one player stated: “The only plus to the timed Perks is we get 4 of them instead of 3.” A few of them called for the devs to bring back a traditional Perk system.

In the thread, one commenter asked the developers to “go back to just picking Perks for the whole match.” Another one asked: “Why can’t Infinity Ward just admit their idea wasn’t that great and go back to the normal Perk system?”

The term “stubborn” was thrown around throughout the thread, with players slamming the developers for this announcement. While it remains to be seen what content is planned for Modern Warfare 2 in the remainder of 2023, it seems that timed Perks are here to stay.
