Modern Warfare 2 players desperate for leaked soccer Operator skins to be fake

It was leaked that soccer stars such as Messi and Neymar will arrive in Modern Warfare 2, but players are desperate for it not to be true.

Following Fornite’s example, Call of Duty has brought some weird and wonderful collaborations over the past couple of years with the likes of Ghostface, The Terminator, and even Snoop Dogg arriving as playable Operators.

Leaks claim to have revealed a ton about Modern Warfare 2 already, such as the DMZ missions and objectives, major Warzone 2 changes, and a potential campaign DLC. Even an Operators list has been leaked, seemingly confirming the return of the Roze Operator and soccer stars Messi, Neymar, and Pogba.

Infinity Ward fans love the developers’ attention to realism, so are desperately hoping that these Operator skin leaks are fake.

Alongside debating whether it’s football or soccer, players in the replies to CharlieIntel’s tweet were instantly against the idea. “I just want Modern Warfare to be about Modern Warfare, if they have these athletes I hope it makes sense,” replied YouTuber HunterTV.

“I miss the days when COD cosmetics stuck strictly to the games universe lore (last COD being BO4) and not gimmicky real world trends,” said another player.

Players also took to Reddit to air their greivances, with one user saying they “hope the rumours we’re seeing aren’t true” because “adding footballers would be a step in the wrong direction.”

Some were a bit more positive, hoping the soccer-player designs wouldn’t be too immersion-breaking. “If they wear military gear its okay, if they wear something else is cringe,” explained user Deneas.

“I could see a football top with armour over the top. Not exactly terrible,” suggested one player. Another said they’d “rather see Messi than a Alien or a Demon on the game to be honest,” likely referring to the new bundle with Season 5 Reloaded.

Of course, plenty of players love the idea of playingn as their favorite soccer stars, and have no qualms with Operators breaking realism — otherwise, the devs wouldn’t continue to make and sell them.

If the leak is indeed true, it’s likely that these soccer skins will arrive in time for November’s World Cup. But, what these Operators would look like remains to be seen.
