Modern Warfare 2 fans beg players not to return for Season 2
Modern Warfare 2 will receive new content after the arrival of the Season 2 update patch, but players are urging the community to not bother returning to the Call of Duty title.
With Season 2 of Modern Warfare 2 starting on February 15, fans of the Call of Duty title have new content to check out, including the arrival of Ranked Play as well as new game modes like Infected and Gun Game.
While this new content may tempt players to return to the game if they had stopped playing for a while, a few fans are advising against this as they’re not happy with the current state of Modern Warfare 2.
Reddit user ‘AltGunAccount’ made a post in the Modern Warfare 2 subreddit urging players not to come back to the game for Season 2, and they claimed that this will send a message to the developers.
The Redditor explained: “If you already stopped playing because Season 1 was weak and post-release support sucks, don’t come back for S2. Let the developers know they aren’t doing enough.”
AltGunAccount discouraged players from buying bundles or the new Battle Pass as they’re not “missing much anyway.” This sentiment was shared by other Modern Warfare 2 players in the thread.
One player slammed the Call of Duty franchise for going in the direction of “games as service” in which seasonal updates ‘force’ players to come back to games every few months. Another user stated that they’ve been “disappointed 60% of the time” when playing Modern Warfare 2.
Many of the commenters made it clear that they have no plans to return, with one user stating that they quit before Season 1. They explained: “Seeing what they added and plan on adding still doesn’t justify coming back.”
ActivisionHowever, a few users still showed support for the game, with one of them commenting: “I feel like if you enjoy it, play the s*** out of it. You already paid $70 for it. You’re gonna need a hell of a lot of the player base to get a message to Activision.”
At the time of writing, it remains to be seen if the player base will significantly increase after the content of Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 goes live.
